I am willing to use Matteau as a toss in for every trade haha I dont think he has anything to be more then a third line rat type player. I dont see the toughness. When I see him I see more of a punk kind of guy who will do dirty things and get under the skin of other players but wont end up dropping the gloves a good portion of the time.

So you think he's Sean Avery?

I have to admit something. I never thought Avery was that bad. I actually liked him as a player reminded me a lot of the guys I played hockey with. Not so much the turtling but the stupid poop ahaha. I just thought he was a funny guy. Like what where some of his quotes ? didnt he say something along the lines of:

The NHL doesnt know what the fans want. They want good guys and bad guys. No one gives a poop about Jarome Iginla. priceless. I also thought it was stupid he got suspended for something he said. Like come on that like a police officer wasting 30 minutes writing you a ticket for weed when someone out there is likely getting mugged

He's had success in counter attack teams but we're not a counter attack team. We grind it out and generally slow the game down. Also since Brunner has been in the league: 61gp- 16g-17a. Gaborik over the same time: 63gp- 17g-21a
- rmdevil313

Well historically Gaborik has scored a lot more, and we slow the game down because we are one of the slowest teams in the league and can't compete if we try to play fast with other teams. Gaborik is a pretty quick guy and adding that dimension to our style of play would be a big boost.

It would almost be like if Tedenby found a way to play better defense and score a few goals

I dont think it something we need to do especially if it costs us a young building block but I wouldnt complain if he came on the cheap. I also feel like he isnt as reliant of others to score as Brunner is. Gaborik can create his fair share of chances on his own. He does have that tendancy to disappear at time though like Brunner does.
- blizzzard

If he's really cheap I can't complain, but there are many other players I would rather acquire.

Would Gaborik really allow us to open the game up though? Or D would get burned constantly. I just think that at this point in his career Gaborik would only be a marginal upgrade over Brunner or Ryder.

Has Henrique not been killing it in the face off dot the last few games? Why put him on the wing
- blizzzard

Remember a few games ago I saw a stat showing Henrique was our worst FO man at barely 40%. Think Pete wants Elias to get one of Brunner and Ryder going.

I don't think saying marginal is fair to Gab. He is a much better player than Brunner and Ryder. Brunner doesn't do poop, and Ryder only has a good shot.

I'm not saying he would allow us to play more wide open, I'm saying within our style it would not hurt at all to have a guy with the ability to fly in and score off the rush because if a team can find a way to neutralize our forecheck we don't really have very many options to go to. It would just be an added element that other teams would have to pay attention to.

But as I said, Its not something I am 100% for, but if the price were reasonable, he is a player I would not mind in the slightest playing for this team

Some one posted he had been 53% 53% and 60% his last 3 games. which was kind of what I meant when I said recently. I just hate having guys that we need to treat like babies and tend to their every need to get them going like Brunner and Loktionov if they arent played with player x they are useless

Why couldn't NJ sign Filppula?

If I'm MacT and I'm moving Eberle, I want a high end prospect, a first round pick, a 3-4 d-man with possible first pairing ceiling, and a decent two way forward, roster player.

NJ cannot afford those things. Teams like Buffalo and Columbus can. Eberle will never be an NJ Devil, at least for the next two years. That would mean Henrique, Greene, a first we don't have, and Severson/Boucher. Think the price is ridiculous? It's Edmonton, of course it's ridiculous; that's why they haven't moved anyone of significance in the last five years.

And Larsson, right now, is still too huge a question mark to trade; he could only be traded for another huge question mark (name players who can possibly be great here, but are not so likely to be), and that's it.

I'd like Evander Kane, but I don't even think he's available. Winnipeg is a confusing team to trade with, because outside of goaltending, they look good on paper.

It's hard to trust a Red Wings player, since they play on good teams.

Why would Buffalo move so many future pieces before their rebuild began?

I know, but I'd much rather have handed that to him than what we gave Clowe. I get that Lou wanted some sandpaper after Clarkie, but concussions are nothing to mess around with

do you think flip would sign with us? tampa probably promised him to play an offensive minded game and he fits into that. do you think he wanted to play for us with inferior talent on hard checking team? doesn't make sense.

plus those new tampa jerseys are nice.

I don't know, I suppose he may have been drawn to Stevie Y in Tampa as well because of their connection in Detroit. I guess we'll never know what could've happened since Lou is an iron wall of secrecy.
