Has Clarkie been playing like poop or are you surprised by his lack of offensive production?

Yeah, but to get Eberlie I think Schneider would probably be involved, to me it would make no sense from an Edmonton stand point to trade maybe one of their best players and not fill one of their needs and defensively, I'd rather keep Merrill, Gelly, Larsson, and maybe Severson for now. Something like Greene and Schneider +.

Way too much current assets. We trade Greene and Schneider and we're a terrible team. Zid and Harrold would be logging 30 minutes a night and Marty shouldn't be counted on to stay healthy at 42 not to mention he's only guaranteed to be here for this season. That trade would kind of blow up the team, don't know why Eberle would want to stick around through another 5 years of losing.

Not sure if Carolina is still looking for D but I would trade bad contract for bad contract with them. Volchenkov for Ruutu. He would give us some physicality and raise our hit count each night. He has had the injury bug the last few years but I dont think its been concussions like Clowe.

Don't think they'd go for that. They might take Zid for the playoffs for someone like Bowman or Boychuk though?

Exactly. Gaborik would just be a more expensive, more frequently injured, and just as streaky brunner.
- rmdevil313

It would potentially be for only this year though. Not 100% for going after him, but him and Brunner are completely different players. Gaborik is fairly decent defensively and scores a hell of a lot more than Brunner does. He also did have some success on a very defensive oriented Rangers team

I always here those guys tossed around so I have kind of lost faith in their potential Didnt the one guy get claimed off waivers by the pens and played with Crosby for like 10 games then was sent back down and re claimed by the canes

Yup. They're longshots to be NHL regulars, but what do you realistically expect to get for Zid? I'd rather have one of them than lose another asset in Zid for nothing at the end of the season.

Edit: Zid is hardly an asset, but my point is we won't have much use in him after this year.

Why would Lou trade our future goaltender that we just traded for?

Peter Harrold is our savior, Deboer is just trying to show us. Pretty soon he'll be logging 32 minutes a night.

I think teams will pay at the deadline for Zid if Lou wants to move him. I could see him getting a similar return as Gonchar. We hate him put other teams might be looking for a player just like him for a play off run to help move the puck and put up points. We seem to also forget how teams over pay at the deadline and realistically if you look at some of the guys moved at the deadline for finishing touches they are about the same caliber as Zid. Murray got a 3rd and he is like the equivalent of A- train. I would rather a 3rd then some 23 or 24 year old who cant consistently crack a roster. We might not think Zid is worth a 2nd but another team might think that at the deadline he is worth a 1st or a solid B prospect. I think we just hate a lot of these guys way to much because they have been here a while and are taking a spot from someone younger but another team wont care because he would be a rental for one run.

I think you are strongly under estimating Peter Harrold. 45 minutes would be more reasonable for a talent such as his.

I'm just looking at it through Mactavish's eyes. They need defense and goaltending, so that's why I said it might include Schneider. Out of the young defensemen, I would probably be alright with Larsson going, but Larsson and what else, unless they want more established players that are still young enough like Zajac or Henrique. I've seen other trades about Eberlie on this blog and those included in some trades are Boucher, Mattau, and a young defenseman or something like that, young players. I think they would want guys like Greene and/or Schneider included something that fills their needs, but makes them better, veterans and not Volch, Sal, Zid. I wouldn't trade Schneider, I'm just looking at through Edmonton's point of view because they would want a lot.

False. Murray was a UFA, Volchenkov has a helluva contract hanging over him. Almost an immovable one unless we retain most of it. We'd be better suited just to buy him out after this year so we won't have to have his retained salary on our books for the duration, just for a 3rd rounder.

I actually saw somewhere today that he might be available. Like him, but where would he fit right wing or center. I believe he played center before. Our right wing would be full with Jagr, Brunner, and Ryder. Zajac, Henrique, Ruutu as our centers.

I think they are done goalie shopping until at least the off season since they took a flyer on Bryz. But they certainly want to be in win now mode so Boucher, Merril, Severson, Wedgewood, Santini, Kujawinski would all likely not be very attractive to them. Guys I think they would be interested in from the Devils are ( this doesnt mean I am saying they get us any of their big 4 just listing players they would likely be interested in) Greene, Zubrus, Jagr, I am on the fence about Zajac as they have Nuge and Gagner but possibly him. I obviously think they would have interest in Henrique and Larsson as well but not at the price we would be asking.

I think at this point in Larsson career, it would include more than just Larsson to get Eberle. I think Eberle is more proven, production wise, but I don't think that's Larsson's fault, that's on PDB.
