I'm my wife's family's Steve Coates.

I've came to the realization that my SVP @ work is the female version of Steve Coates.

Nope but I compete every year for worst bowler in a group of about 40 people. And I have won it the last 2 years. So I don't go often... And that's what socks are for.

I'd like to get my own gear, but it's kind of low on the shopping list right now. I've got myself spread a bit thin, gotta be picky about the dollars wasted on hobbies (learning guitar, bass guitar building project, and hockey gear being the most recent).

Don't worry though, I'll just hit the lottery and it'll be ok.

They'll come right back up after we start playing some half way decent teams.

Pens/Flyers is a top rivalry right now. They've essentially killed Detroit/Chicago (why not move Chicago the East to balance the conferences?). Boston/Montreal has died down over the past few years. Montreal and Toronto haven't met in the playoffs this century I don't think. Right now, it's the best.

However, I'm sick of them selling Washington vs. Pittsburgh to us. Because they're wrong, there is no rivalry there. There was a Crosby vs. Ovechkin individual rivalry for a few years, culminating in the double hat trick Game in the 2009 playoffs. But there's no real extra animosity between them. The Penguins might be the Capital's biggest rival, but the Capitals take back seats to the Flyers, as well as the Islanders and Bruins (playoffs last year excluded) as the teams they seem to hate.

- jmatchett383

I've been to Pens Caps playoff games. There is definitely a rivalry there. Warranted by the play of the teams? No. But it is a product of the overlap in fan bases in Northern Md and south central PA. This was the first rivalry I remember there being a ban on selling tix on ticketmaster to folks from the 15xxx zip codes. The obnoxiousness of Pens fans in the Caps building is legendary. Since Ovie and the new building, the fan base in DC has been better, so there's been less room for the Pens people's incursion.

Homer still has to pay for this mess he's created. And the team has gone nowhere since they shipped off talbot.

I guess this why there are 82 games in a season and not 15

What was last night?
But I hear ya. We always elevate our play for the Penguins. 2 games is seriously encouraging. We now need to show we can play at a high level consistently.

Over Jack Edwards? At least Jackson's never laughed at a player being injured.
And I don't really like Jeanerette, legend or not. He sounds like a rooster being castrated while drowning in water...and is a pretty big homer.

But yeah, after those 2, Jackson's pretty bad.

Hate Jeanerette. He's a caricature of a pbp guy.

The Pens are slumping. On a better turn through Pittsburgh they would have buried the half dozen chances they shot wide and we would have limped out of there like Steven Stamkos.

I don't watch a lot of Eastern Conference hockey but I heard the Sens were having issues. They looked like the Flyers from a couple weeks ago. No shows.

It's a nice three game run here but the team hasn't looked all that much better. The third period last night was disgraceful. They were waiting to lose. The Pens just didn't have the finish.

It was really disturbing when they mentioned that he hadn't had an assist in over 30-games before he notched one in OTT... considering the quality linemates he generally enjoys, and all the PP time... to me, that's more telling of his recent ineptitude than his lack of goal-scoring.

To be fair, Gagne played on the top line with Giroux and Voracek for the last month of last season.

i have to disagree here moatesy. they didn't look frozen with fear or dejected, they held on to a slim lead against a skilled and rested team in the third.

Volunteered. Met people from all around the world. Sat out in the pretty countryside in the shade. It was very nice.

And I do enjoy watching golf. And soccer.

But I think pro basketball is a fake sport. Like pro wrestling.

Agree with you. They are playing with a great deal more confidence and didn't seem ready to lose at all. I, on the other hand, was watching through my fingers.

I hear you. The optimistic view point is more than welcome.

They just sat back and chipped the puck out to center for the better part of the third. The Pens had a number of high end attempts at the net including that James Neal shot that went two feet wide from right in front. The Pens haven't been scoring (We know what that looks like) and if they had a decent night they would have put the Flyers away in the third. There was no reason for them not to except their own ineptitude. I really felt like it was coming.

... because you knew the loss was coming and were more than surprised at the end when the Pens inexplicably couldn't find the net. The fact that they only had 6 shots speaks to their current level of play.

Flyers played a good game. Schenn showed some of his upside last night. Hopefully he continues that. The other side of B.Schenn is terrible.

Love our goaltending this year as well.

Hope Giroux shows back up for a big game.

How bout the Chico eats segments in between periods? Stellar.

Flyers should consider putting Coates in a dunk tank between periods.

For once, it was nice to see the Flyers be the team that was difficult to play against. They seemed to really frustrate the Pens on almost every entry. I thought they did a good job of limiting chances. The third period didn't have that foreboding feeling of a Pens goal coming.

Thank Buffalo for blowing up yesterday. I didn't have to hear Emery/Holtby all day.

Today's another day. Puckdaddy and Blair talked Metro and up it came again.
