I prefer Jones in the studio and Clement in the booth. My fave broadcast team is still the Rangers. The least fave are the Bruins, Pens and Sabres. Voice matters to me and I just cannot stand Jeanneret's voice. He seems like a nice guy but man, that damn voice.
- nastyflyergirl

Sharks and Stars broadcast teams are very good as well.

I'll tell you what, take a little nap and we promise to wake you up when the Flyers win a Cup, that way you won't have to put up with all the little disappointments along the way.

I'm still amazed they didn't call a check from behind on Simmonds before that first goal.

It would have been the wrong call, but it was borderline and I'm glad they didn't call it.

I saw the entire feature on HBO. They had a bunch of people fill the Staples Center in LA to watch these dorks play. There were commentators doing play by play. I just sat there and laughed.

As video game fan myself, I cringe when I see these things. It's like the yang to the Wing Bowl's yin, polar opposites on the spectrum of pathetic.

Yeah, I was really surprised that no mind was paid to that hit.

When Emrick retires Dave Strader will be the # 1 guy. He's excellent.

I think Jim Jackson is about the worst pbp guy in the league. Can't listen to him.

JJ is fine when he calls the game. Grating when he opines.

I see many people commenting on the officiating last night, and whilst you guys arent wrong, im just not surprised anymore

any call against Crosby or Malkin at this point is a surprise to me. I dont get upset anymore when they miss a call against Geno/Crosby. Just no surprise anymore.

Anyone not named Malkin or Crosby and thats a penalty (Geno mauling Couts last night)

yes its beyond frustrating but i've just got used to it

The Power Play set up of Giroux on the left wall, Lecavalier on the right wall, Simmonds in the crease, while Streit and Timonen play the points, I feel they should have this look all the time. Only difference, replace Timonen with Voracek. Lecavalier and Streit in my opinion have better hands than Timonen and Hartnell and more reliable shots. They didn't score but I thought they looked good.

In general, it's hard to listen to most TV broadasts in US markets... way too much pandering to casual/non-fans, and way too much reliance on WWF-style forced narrative. And most of the color guys just repeat the same BS over and over and over again... if I have to hear Eddie Olczyk saying "it's 4-on-4, the forwards have the D, the D have the forwards" one more time, I'm going to toss a chair through the TV.

I don't even mind the occasional "they're going to call that (insert call)", but he does get whiny at times. I wouldn't be heartbroken if they replaced him, but I think he's fine.

Fartsmell has to go, he did nothing last night except negate a further 5 on 3 advantage with that dumb attempt at a slash that missed the target. The ref had his hand up before Hartnell swung so it would have been another penalty for Pitt. He is not generating anything out there. I would say you have to give Read a shot at that spot but his line played very well last night so maybe not a good idea to split them up. I just can't watch his ineffectiveness any longer.
Good win though by the boys last night!

OH MY GOD HE DIDN'T SKATE HARD ONE TIME LAST GAME TRADE HIM!

You need to let it go, man. Most people agree his defensive game has been improved this season overall. You make him out to be Zherdev defensively.

- jmatchett383

I just don't understand the thought process at all. Listen he didnt skate back hard at all and was floating behind Kunitz on the disallowed goal. He can be better with more effort. For 8.25 per am I wrong to demand effort? Its one thing if he sucks in a certain area.

Crosby & Malkin sure as (frank) didnt look any better last night except on the few PP's they got

even the worlds best cant give their 110% ever game

get over it, he's been great lately.

Interesting Paul Stewart blog today on why (in his view) so many bad calls are made on plays around the net. He says the NHL directly discourages refs from skating to the net for a better vantage point.

Who care what he did 2 years ago. Since that time he has scored 10 goals in 46 games has a total of 14 points and is -7, playing first line minutes and a lot of first line powerplay, complete ineffectiveness. Everyone on this board is jumping on Giroux for his lack of productivity, well get him a linemate that would help with that.

I think of Coatsey as the broadcasting team's pet. They let him have a little bit of fun, then put the leash back on and send him to his little glass box.

What is it about Couturier that gets Malkin so upset? He must just hate his face or something.

It looked like they were about to go at one point.

His hand was up to call the slash that gave them the 5-on-3. He actuall played well the prior handful of games...but sure, 1 bad game, he's useless.

Some people just can't be happy.
