In other news, Luca Sbisa has really fallen out of favor in Anaheim...fans have soured on him and think he's not a fit anymore... Boudreau basically benched him game prior to tonight...he played 20+ mins tonight in a big loss.

Bill,
I think a lot of the younger Flyers didn't know where to go or what to do without the puck on their stick under Lavy's system. They had a tendency to stop skating and just watch what was going on. All, if not most, hockey players know what to do when the puck is on their stick, but it takes time, experience and good coaching to know where to go on the ice without the puck. Anticipating the play is very important. I think Berube's system is much more simple than Lavy's, plus I don't think the Flyers had the defense and goalie to make Lavy's system work. Right now I think the Flyers are understanding Berube's system, plus I think having Lappy as coach makes the players more responsible. It seems weird to watch a Flyers game and not worry about the goaltender. If the Flyers start scoring goals and continue to get good goaltending, they will move up in the standings very fast.

Where is Zherdev?

Has there ever been a more waste of talent in NHL history than Nik Zherdev?

Where is the "talent" that you speak of?

Despise is kind of a strong word, no? He's what, $3.5 mil for the next three seasons... looking at comparables, physical defensive D men who play circa 20 mins a night and put up similar type blocks/hits/points:

Josh Gorges 5 yrs 3.9 mil
Smid 4 yrs 3.5 mil
Allen 2 yrs 3.5 mil
Orpik 1 yr 3.75 mil

I really like his game and think it's fair value...but that's me.

The fact that I own a Grossmann jersey (closest my last name will ever get to being on an NHL jersey, probably) is why I like Grossmann. Still think he's the most moveable (from a "makes sense to the Flyers" angle) d-man, though.
