Where is Zherdev?

Has there ever been a more waste of talent in NHL history than Nik Zherdev?

- PhillySportsGuy

I kinda like Nikky....anyone have the GIF of his goal celebration to make it 7-1?

You should have worded it that way. I'm more about consistency. It's nice to have one great season, but I want to be able to count on a guy year in and year out.

JVR has flashed the ability of being a top player in the league, but his inconsistency has always held him back.

- PhillySportsGuy

See, this is where we disagree about JvR. I believe it was Carter's fourth season where he scored 46. We traded JvR at the end of his third full season as an NHLer, he spend along period of time hurt but after the trade with the Leafs, he had a good season with them. Unfortunately for the entire league including James van Riemsdyk, it was only half a season. Had it been a full season, I think he would have got 30. Baby steps. He's still only 24.

Alexander Ovechkin and Steven Stamkos are the only pure and consistent 40-50 goal scorers in the league. You bring up a name like Corey Perry who I stick in the same class as Jeff Carter. They consistently scorer but do not get consistent high results by season's end. Every year there is always a surprise player who matches Stamkos and Ovie but it's unlikely they'll do it again next season.

Too much hanging out by the red line? He played like I did when I was 6 years old. Hangout by the red line and wait for the breakaway!

Speaking of the Blues, Alex Steen. I really hope he does score 40. He's got this season but do I think he'll do it again next season? Nope.

The west has just murdered the east this year.

The Metro is like the NFC East right now.

Did anyone read Tim's article about Ryan on CSNPhilly? Hilarious.

In case you missed it, here's a snippet.

For the longest time this summer, Ryan was convinced he was headed to the Flyers.

Later in the article.

“Yeah, it did cross my mind,” Ryan said about coming home.

That's the problem. Our teams spend too much time primping and arrive late to the game!

We had some help from our old buddy Mike Richards tonight and we need the same help from the same guy tomorrow. Kings beat the Islanders tonight and if they can beat the Devils tomorrow, we can leap from over both of them with a win over Winnipeg. The Jets are a bearable team, the Flyers should be well rested, on the same page and confident going into this one. However tomorrow is a new challenge because the Jets are also on a three game winning threat.

I'd bet on Malkin. I've always seen him as a better goal scorer than Giroux.
