i agree. the first 10 minutes of the third was a clinic in safe, defensive play. i was thinking i would like to see more chance but they shut them down and gave up nothing. the last 10 the pens upped the pressure but didn't finish chances.

huh....no articles from Timmy P about the game last night, but he found time to write about Bobby Ryan loving the Sens today? Wonder why. How is this troll a Flyers insider?

Oilers offered three 2nd round picks for Braydon Coburn at the Draft and couldn't close the deal. Trades in season are much harder to make.

I never really want to defend Tim but he went to Ottawa and Baicker went to Pitts.

What a chicken poop offer, 2nd round picks are nice but that team needs to realize you have to give some to get some. Offer a player of value for another player of value, not picks that may or may not pan out.

Depends if we're talking 3 Edmonton picks or 3 picks Edmonton has acquired.

Hall is a quality 4th line player. He was effective on the PK and won 7 of 8 faceoffs. I would prefer the Flyers replace Rinaldo and Rosehill on the 4th line with more capable players. I don't understand why McGinn can't play a 4th line role for 6-8 minutes a game.
- PLindbergh31

Mcginn might be able to. But I guess the flyers would rather see him get big minutes in the A working on the PP. I agree with that assessment. Eaves to me is a player this team can use. If they dont trust Raffl, send him down to the A where he can play instead of scratching him. Scratching him is stunting any potential growth. He needs to play hockey on north american ice.

Eaves is someone you can throw out on that 4th line, if you decide to scratch him, much like Gill, your not hurting him.

I dont know what our roster/contract situation is.

I really liked how they gutted this one out in contrast to the offensive blowout/shutout that was the previous night in Ottawa. Whether it be never taking your foot off the gas or collapsing into a Defensive game to grind out the clock and preserve the win. To have the same team win in 2 distinctly different styles shows that what they are really focused on IS winning, anyway they can. To me the clear switch in team mentality to was the most impressive thing last night.

I would have also. Draft picks are hard enought o predict, let alone 2nd round picks. More likely to have 3 players that never make it to the NHL opposed to even 2 solid NHL players.

FWIW, here is what those 3 2nd rounders were used on:

http://www.hockeydb.com/i...s/pdisplay.php?pid=130509

Not saying that's what the Flyers would have done, but those were the 3 2nd rounders Edmonton had going into this draft.

Its becoming pretty obvious that Oilers over value their players at least when it comes to the trade market. The flyers did well by saying no to that deal.
