I just don't understand the thought process at all. Listen he didnt skate back hard at all and was floating behind Kunitz on the disallowed goal. He can be better with more effort. For 8.25 per am I wrong to demand effort? Its one thing if he sucks in a certain area.
- Just5

No, but you need to wait till next season since effort is apparently directly related to cap hit and Giroux's current hit is only 3.75.

He's not really a guy I want playing the last 5 minutes against the Pens. I like Gus, but he's not ready for that.
- PhillySportsGuy

I don't know... I'd certainly give him the shot at it. He's cut down on most of the rookies mistakes, and he's actually been pretty solid. Good offensive awareness, and decent positioning. The main thing he's got going against him is his size, but in all honesty, I think he's handling that better too.

I'll admit that Giroux has developed some bad habits. (Letting Kunitz beat him to the net was unforgivable). However, I feel better now after the last fews games. His line has generated chances. He needs to start potting some of those chances though.

At the end of the game, you knew Pitt would crash the net hard. I would rather have someone who can clear the porch out there.

Gus is made more for a higher tempo game. He will be a good matchup against the Jets.

I feel the Flyers have their optimized lineup on the ice right now. Exception being Raffl instead of Rosehill.

What's wrong with Gustafsson?

meh, I really don't like either and I would rather see McGinn get regular minutes with the Phantoms at this point. Raffl/Rosehill is fine for now, but if they are going to be a playoff team, I would rather see them make a minor deal to upgrade the 4th line. Go out and get a guy like Stempniak from Calgary or Fiddler from Dallas.

Eaves now on waivers from Detroit due to cap issues, at 1.2 million, he would be a quality upgrade to Raffl or Rosehill

It really is amazing how much Pitts players get away with on the ice...They have to be the most chippiest team and instigators ever. Last night Neal, Crosby, Malkin and Kunitz got away with a lot of those chippy little plays where they could or should of been called.

I have to agree. And the sad part is they know it so they take advantage of it. It's like the good looking guy being an a-hole to the girl he's dating cuz he knows he can be....

I wished these clowns had played in the 70s and early 80s. Heck their own teammates would have probably beat the crap out of them!

He was good enough to play the most minutes in the world's over the summer. He's been good enough to be paired with Timonen at certain points of this season. I don't see how Gustafsson is less of an option than Streit while defending a one goal lead.

Thank Buffalo for blowing up yesterday. I didn't have to hear Emery/Holtby all day.

Today's another day. Puckdaddy and Blair talked Metro and up it came again.

- mayorofangrytown

Puckdaddy must be having a tough time now he can't fall back on the old chestnut of the Flyers having bad goaltending.

http://sports.yahoo.com/b...-luck-142606410--nhl.html

All of this proves two things in the National Hockey League: a coach is only as good as his goaltending and his team's health; and a vote of confidence in Philadelphia is a kiss of death.

This season, Philly entered with one of the most perilous goaltending tandems in the NHL in Mason and Ray Emery. Three games in, and Laviolette paid the price for the team giving up nine goals in three losses.

That's right, folks. Puckdaddy thinks Laviolette was fired because his team conceded nine goals in three games. The fact they only scored three goals in those three games was not mentioned.

Good points but if Luke Schenn is still a capable PK guy, he should be considered for the last two minutes of a game while defending a lead. Streit has had too many blatant turnovers.

Exactly, that team knows that they can get away with more for whatever reason it is, and they push a little more to see how much they can get away with continuously and IF the refs will not call it they continue. Every team needs to be treated the same, just because you have the poster boy for the NHL and Mario as owner up in the press box does not mean they should be allowed to do what they do...Biggest example ever was playoffs a few years back, Crosby/Malkin/Neal did whatever they wanted, especially Crosby ensuring Giroux needed surgery on both wrists after that series.
