You know it's a flyers game day when the anger comes out from people you don't normally see it from.

"This team" means the scumbag Flyers that are sitting with the Oilers, Sabres and Panthers at the bottom of the standings. A team that no self-respecting contender should ever lose to. A team that is led by a Nickelback loving whiner who has played himself off Team Canada.

Wow, diddn't even make it to the bottom of page 1. Good to know that no amount of common sentiment can kill this Rivalry.

Well I don't know about you, but I don't exactly watch hockey for it's mellowing effect.

Seriously, Pens vs. Flyers should be considered a State Holiday.

That moustache kills any possible intimidation he could dole out.

That said, he (or any other NHL player) would mop the floor with my out of shape ass.

I always found the majority of them to be of the "crosby sucks" variety you described than someone who is willing to actually discuss hockey. They are very hard headed as well even in discussions, about crosby usually because that what they like to talk about when they find out I'm a penguins fan, when I say I understand why you don't like him but if he played for your team he would be your favorite player and they always come back with the I would never be a fan of a diver cry baby nonsense. I will say their fans are very passionate in every sport, sometimes overly passionate, but they love their sports teams but are sometimes blind to reality.

They're there. And there's Steelers fans like that. And Islanders fans (the few that exist) like that. And St. Louis Cardinals fans like that. Take, for instance, when Jagr scored against the Penguins 2 years ago. The entire building was pissed and one guy was waving his middle finger at him in the front row. I'm sure that guy (or the entire building) is necessarily a good sample of how the entire fanbase generally acts, but if I based it on that game, I'd say that Penguins fans are horrible people. I wouldn't know about their views towards Avenged Sevenfold, but I'm just saying, every fan base has the jerks who make the rest of us look bad. In Philly, it should be noted that the entire WIP fanbase should be lobotomized.

What I know for sure is the following:

1. World class talent with Crosby, Malkin, Giroux, Letang, Voracek
2. Passion from both teams
3. Legit heavyweights on both teams
4. Skilled grinders on both teams.
5. A cool arena, i was at Pittsburgh for the regular season line brawl game.
6. The average WIP hockey fan in Philly thinks goaltending is still an issue for the Flyers and uses dumb and played out insults like "Cindy Crosby"
7. Their are equivalent dumb fans in Pitts.

Anyway..Best of luck Pens and I hope the Flyers win! (though not while Letang is on the ice cause I have him on one of my fantasy teams)

I agree there is fans like that everywhere but there seems to be an abundance in Philly. I was at the Jagr game and thought that was hilarious but it's not really fair to compare the treatment he gets in Pittsburgh to what Crosby gets. Jagr demanded a trade and acted like an a$$ towards the organization and then years after turning his back on the team he was going to come back and make amends until he went missing and signs with the teams biggest rival. Philly fans just don't like Crosby because he's good plain and simple. I know the Philly fan base as a whole is not bad they do seem to have more of "that one guy" and I think their reputation is fair.

It's not that (remember how we treated Mario? He was treated greatly by fans here). It goes back to his first game here. When Hatcher smashed him into the boards and then he went and whined to the ref and ended up getting 2 minutes. That's the moment when he became the enemy and got the "cry baby" moniker that he will never shake. That was out first impression of him. In Philadelphia, we like guys like Bobby Clarke, Shjon Podein, and Dave Poulin; guys who just go about the game, play hard and chippy, but don't ever have anything given to them. Right or wrong, Crosby's lasting first impression was of an entitled spoiled brat.

Is that still the case? No. If he were a free agent, would I want him on the Flyers? Absolutely. But we do love it when he gives us more of the "baby" fodder, like the Voracek glove incident. I won't deny that. But I'm just letting you know why he, above all of the other stars who have ever played in Philly, gets that kind of treatment.

Yeah, I've never seen a player lose teeth and complain to ref about not getting a call. Shocking moment for an NHL player. Love how that game ended.

I disagree with you preference. I am hopeful that the professional ice hockey club located on the Eastern portion of Pennsylvania will prevail in competition over the professional ice hockey club located on the Western portion of Pennsylvania in their forthcoming ice hockey match. Furthermore, I make insult of your manhood and wish to convey a desire to procreate with your wife or significant other in a malicious way.

you do have to admit though. if the glove incident had been done by pronger, it would have been considered an awesome blend of hilarity and macho-ism. at the very least, it would have been considered gamesmanship. it happens all the time. player x breaks his stick on the bench, its because hes becoming unraveled . player y breaks his stick on the bench, he is brimming with passion. people see what they want to see

Absolutely. I brought the glove incident up becuase it plays into the whole "whining baby" image. Pronger never had that image. It's not fair, but it's how it is.

It's not necessarily fair. But that was his first up-close face time to Philadelphia fans: an 18-year-old baby-faced kid complaining to a referee about a non-call. Regardless of the play that happened, that's the lasting image. Again, not necessarily fair, but that was his first impression.

Shockingly the Flyers and fans were completely fine with all the tears they shed after Vitale smoked lil' danny boy a couple years ago with a clean check. Seemed to be ok with Giroux crying about Sid being mean and slashing his tender wrists.
