to be totally clear - I see the difference between Rolston and Nolan with that lineup as a 50 point season vs a 56 point season.

That team is crap, will be losing Miller at some point, possible Ehrhoff as well, and Nolan isn't that good a coach. My opinion may be in the minority, but I'm standing by it.

http://www.hockey-referen...e.com/teams/NYI/2007.html

Isles roster and stats for Nolan's best season as our coach. We had a goaltender with a 919 sv% and 5 shutouts. We had 6 20 or more goal scorers. Blake's overachieving year with Yashin, Satan with 27. Ryan Smyth.

All that and barely made it into the playoffs and a quick first round exit.

He coached the Isles two years, if we'd lost that shootout in 2006/2007, he would have been out of the playoffs both years.

Sorry, just don't see him as an upgrade at coach, and I despise Capuano.

Disagree...the 06-07 team was an offseason embarrassment expected to finish last. Nolan lent credibility and had that team playing way, way over its head every night. It was simply a nightmare for other teams' scorers to go up against the Hunter, Sillinger, Hilbert line...and it wasn't because of the amazing skills of Hunter, Sillinger and Hilbert. They, and the team, were just ready to leave it on the ice every night. That's at least in part due to coaching.

Nolan's a good coach, lets put that poop to bed right now. That was not a playoff team.

You dont notice bailey at all. He literally does nothing out there. Nothing good nothing bad. It's like he isn't even playing.

BTW I've let Bouchard out of my dog house and let him go for walks now once a day. He's earned that.

Good coach but that was the most boring team I've ever seen in my life.

I agree about Nolan. Wang and Co better hope Garth and Cappy can get the Ship turned around because if Patty and Nolan get the job done in Buffalo, Wang will have to hear forever how he blew it with Patty, Neil, and Ted. Guys like Brooks and Maloney to name a few will never let him hear the end of it.

The sabres are playing 4 teenagers, they are like the titanic. They are staying at the bottom of the Atlantic

If he was out that long I wouldn't even be able to post. The 4 to six weeks thing is my prediction for him being number 1 in the league. Hes been playing absolutely awesome the past few games. He seems to be picking back up from last year.

I did not mean this year. I doubt they can do much this year. While I like Patty and hope he does well, I hope we hear how he does not have experience like Garth when he was hired. It's only fair. I doubt we will hear much of that though.

Any tean that has hilbert on the pp unit is boring. I'm certainly not the only one that remembers that. Grind u out along the boards and keep it there team. I don't think a team has spent more time along the boards than that one?

Jethro. Nolan would never have played any kids.

He favored vets more than cappy.

I don't care that nolan won b/c that was some of the most ugliest hockey to watch. If I just care about winning and being boring I would be a devils fan.

No jt tonight. Logically I would just put bailey at centre. But cappy is a man with a plan. He'll put regin in top line. In mean the guy has earned it. Maybe replace Nelson with boulton for some grit.

Cappy decesion making on roster reminds me of that Simpson episode when his baseball team had all the mlb greats on it. Then mr burns benched Daryl strawberry who was 4-4 with 4 homeruns with Homer Simpson whom he said is a rightie. Telling him he is "playing the percentages."

Nolan was never going to be re-hired. He had a chance to stay. He chose not to because he didn't want to be part of a rebuild and get judged for coaching vacancies in the future off of a terrible year. He's probably realized that nobody is beating down his door with all his perceived baggage so he is likely more open to a rebuild now.

Cappy is likely safe, whether he should be or not. Even if there is a change it will likely be Weight. Lavy is the only established coaching option out there with any chance of being hired, likely due to CW's fondness of him and the fact that Snow played for him and knows the kind of coach he is.

where are you seeing no JT tonight?

Nolan had no "kids" to play. A-Mac and Frans were his only two options, along with Comeau who was so overrated by the fan base it was ridiculous. Of course Comeau looked good. He was being compared to a prospect pool of s**t . Comeau was so good he was waived and hasnt done d**k sinde then. Nolan had virtually no prospects to play, hence he had to rely on Andy Hilbert and Richard Park.

He didn't practice yesterday and someone posted what the lines looked like without him causing 3/4 of the fan base to run for the ledge. As usual.

I read in Newsday that JT might not play tonight and that he's real sore following that crash into the boards. Staple also said it doesn't look serious, no more than a couple of days rest needed. If he has to sit tonight, so be it. He'll be back by the weekend (hopefully with Vanek).

Obviously, I'd rather it be a one game thing than a nagging problem. We'll just have to call up Richard Park for tonight.
