Hiring ex players has worked so well for the Oilers, might as well make it the norm.

What a gong show.

First, they allow Regeir to trade away one of their two assets that will actually get them something. Then they fire him? I'm not saying the trade for Moulson was bad (it will be if he doesn't resign, though), but why wouldn't you let the new GM use that asset to rebuild the team as he sees fit?

They obviously knew this firing was coming, and the Sabres got 3 of their 4 wins on the season after the trade, so they can't act like they just thought to fire him now.

Then they go an hire Nolan as the coach (without even having a GM!). Nolan was always known as a great motivator, but horrible at actually teaching the game and being an 'x's and o's' guy. You would think a teacher and strategy guy is exactly what a young, rebuilding team would need at this point.

There is a reason why Nolan hasn't had a head coaching job in the NHL in almost two decades, other than the disaster when he went to the Isles for a bit.

I feel for all you sabres fans today.

Christmas came six weeks early for me!

Now hire a quality GM, trade Miller and Stafford, buy out Leino, and all will be right.

Wise choices. Nolan is an underrated and under appreciated coach. LaFontaine is one of the finest people in hockey and smart to boot. Good choices.

In short term, LaFontaine will work with BUF asst GM Kevin Devine but has short list of GM candidates and the search for fulltime GM is on.

Just hope to god Mike Milbury won't get hired. I would actually feel bad for the Sabres fan base.

Milbury is a moron.

He pissed away an allstar team for pennies on the dollar in New York

I've been beating Ted Nolan to Preds drum for yrs. Crap..

I truly believe that you didn't mean to offend anyone - just pointing out (for cheap laughs) that your comment can be perceived as politically incorrect.

Pretty sure Milbury hates Buffalo anyways, he pisses on them pretty much every possible opportunity.

Most people consider a guy's career to start about the 9th year he plays in the league.

Hodgson's dad requested another trade?
- Scooby_Doo

hodgson = first line center with tons of potential

kassian = meat head 3rd liner with limited to no potential

i sense you are upset about the trade still.
