Chief petty officer. But you're kinda missing the point here. I'm miffed at handing out military titles when they never earned them... - FlyersGrace
But we can all agree that Malkin earned his.

absolutely beyond frustrating to see the script of the game from 5 minutes in. disagree as much as you guys want, but at the bare minimum, giroux is on par with anything crosby does as far as diving/selling goes. view it as smart gamesmanship, entitlement, being a girl, whatever you like, but at least see that they are more similar than either fanbase will care to admit in that regard.
that being said, great game from a ton of guys in orange and black. i kindve wish someone else would have gotten the fortuitous tap in game winner than the punk schenn (total credit must be due on that one, great snipe). emery was awesome, deserving off all the praise. however, id say timonen too was fantastic out there. looked 3 years younger than he has all season. its amazing what a difference he makes for the entire team when he is on. - stayinthefnnet
Kimmo's play in the final half minute was great, keeping Malkin hemmed behind the net.
You guys could and dare I say should have won this game. The Pens flubbed so many chances....shades of the first 2 weeks of this season for the Flyers.
If you're referring to the slash that Giroux took, I'm going to disagree with you. He does embellish calls (which I hate I really do) but it looked like he took one there. Seems like he's always getting slashed on the wrists.
1-1. Can't wait for round 3. |

Giroux embellishes ... no question about it. More than many Flyer fans will admit to.
the difference is that Sid has it down to an art form. He does his diving/embellishing so damn effortlessly it's amazing.

Flyers have Malkin's number. I'm sure his stats look ok but he definitely looks terrible against us more often than not the last few years. |

Looks like it was right on the thumb. Pens really did have awesome chances. Whatever I guess. Back to back situation. Nice to sneak out with the 2 pts tonight |

Yeah I thought that was before that - don't remember seeing him again but looking at play by play see plenty of shifts by him. Just don't remember seeing him.
Usually in a game like this he plays with an edge along the boards. I wonder if the injury is still bothering him |

just more practice at it. hes been a premier star longer than giroux. haha dont worry. giroux is well on his way. he will learn to be a little more subtle about it. but hey, kudos to you for being able to at least admit that he does. |

even if a slash occurred, it in no way should have produced the reaction it did. like i said, it is what it is. its 99 percent probable that crosby does the exact same thing in that situation. it would be silly to blame the game on it. but still, the frustrating part is when people will clap like seals when that happens and then scream bloody murder about the integrity of the league on the coots/crosby penalty shortly after |

I love how BSchenn is a punk to Pittsburgh because he once dared to give Crosby a cross check in response to a Crosby slash. They really are so precious. |

oh yeah. it is this team's mantra. come out flying. expect to be rewarded. once that initial wave produces nothing, they place a monkey on their backs and feel the need to make everything picturesque. the talent is still there in spades so it results in a lot of fancy toe drags and passes and possession, but ultimately a lot of harmless high shots from people trying to thread the needle on a 100 mph shot. then it just becomes a lot of stars trying to be heroes and no one making the gritty plays necessary to right the ship. |

See, you understand it.
I don't mind embellishing a call every once in awhile. Giroux is a star player in the league, so the refs are going to extra mindful of him. If they see him react to an apparent slash, they're going to call it--just like when they see Crosby go down after being held down, or cross-checked. Does this mean Giroux and Crosby are selling it? Most likely. They're both strong players with good puck possession (especially Crosby).
What I didn;t like was Pierre going on about it, considering the fact that he loves Crosby. |
