Not sure. I don't think he's a bust, nor do I think he is a first pairing dman. I kinda fall in the middle. I'm in the minority.

I think he's an NHL player but the trade's a bust. Unfortunately I don't think he'll be more than 4-6. A supporting player for a good number three. That's where I see his potential ceiling and pretty much always have. He's going to have his good games and his bad games.

3 things I'd like to see in tonights game:

1. Couturier strips Malkin of the puck in the neutral zone, goes in 2 on 1 and blows a shot by Fleury

2. Kimmo Timonen scores a pp goal

3. Pierre McGuire gets a puck in the mouth right in the middle of him babbling about how amazing Crosby is!

At the risk of further browbeating (and I do understand there's been plenty in the opposite direction), I'll say I think he can be much better than he is right now. Obviously not a #1 defenseman, and probably/more than likely not anywhere on the first pairing, but it's whatevs.

the trade needs to be viewed in the context, that at least the past few years, teams have paid a premium to acquire NHL viable defenseman

He had a rough go last night, but really played well later in the game. He's not terrible, but he's not going to be Adam Foote. That's fine. So long as he can be a solid, physical presence and not hurt the team, it's not a bad thing.

Can't erase the trade, so just have to hope he steps up and plays well...or hope that Homer/Hexy can trade him for a good return
