I was starting to get worried that you had broken your computer after reading about how others had the gall to have a differing opinion than you. It can be frustrating when people don't agree with you, I know. There, there...
Turns out you were just researching Yak/Gretzky Jr's ice time. Nice that he had 4 more goals than any Canuck last year. I remember his hat trick against the Canucks in the last game of the season when Canucks were resting their regulars. Quite an accomplishment for sure. And it's encouraging to see that he is building off an average rookie season. Nobody said scoring a goal a month at this level would be easy.

I found within every fan base, there are one or 2 guys who are never wrong. And if you question them, or differ their opinion, they will hound you relentlessly.

Yak is no superstar, he is lazy, and needs a lot of maturing. This is fact.

He also has crazy talent. That is fact.

You don't offer opinions. You go on every thread spout poop and then hide. You think you're being funny but you are not even remotely....

So who is Yak really then?

Let's hear your view. Because to everyone else, he is too laxzy to work hard for his ice. Which makes it seem he has an ego. Which also means he will not last in this league. Which, in the end, will make him a bust.

Yak works hard enough. The laziness rumors are just that. Hes working through a sophomore slump, like many.

Now can all you twits knock it off?

Damn, must be nice to have the final say on everything. Is there anything you don't know for absolute fact? Any topic where you don't represent everyone on hockeybuzz? You're the moral compass for all of us here on hockeybuzz. I'll be sure to run my opinions by you in a PM before posting them publicly here. You know, to save myself the embarrassment. All these years I've been writing posts here and to find out just now that you don't think I'm funny? I'm going to be completely honest with you here, I'm crushed. I'm suddenly questioning everything I stand for.

The blog written is directly tied to what we are discussing. If you are upset with anyone, blame Eklund for posting said blog.

I don't understand why your fanbase is so touchy about Yak. But, the issue here is real, accept it or not, but don't get upset with other people for calling a spade a spade, on a spade blog.

Yak may be a very good player time will tell. If I am a GM I am not offering too much mostly because of the Russian Factor. The uncertainty of Russians bolting back to the KHL for the big dollars is always in a GMs mind. THis year we drafted Horvat over Nichushkin , mainly because he was Russian.

I think any GM offering the farm for an unsatisfied Russian sophmore would be a risky deal.

- Eklund

I know I am way late, but, no. Just because Yak was #1 does not mean he was ever on the same pedigree as Daigle. Alex was supposed to be the next Lemieux. On perhaps the worst assembled franchise in history. Yak just happened to be #1in a crappy draft.

Edmonton is frustrated and desperate and need a change. They are looking to blame their troubles on one player but expect a big return if they trade him even though there has been friction between the player and management. Is Yaks a bit of a diva, sure, but who cares. They have to give up something to get something significant.

Then need a solid veteran than can lead and produce and be signed for say five years or so. It sounds like they may have to over pay, when they want another team to overpay for budding stars. They are not dealing from a position of strength when you look at the standings.

- hillbillydeluxe

Management is trying to blame the woes on one player....? Man the poop people make up on here blows my mind.

Iggy makes a good point. He had a phenomenal rookie season, that can't be denied. He is playing poorly this year. Actually let's be straight, he's playing the sh1ts. But I still don't think he's a bust. He will break out eventually, maybe not with the Oilers but he will.

Yak has played 65 games ... he has 19 goals and 16 assists ... he's not a bust, he's in a slump.

He is a 20 year old kid from a foreign country that less than a full season into his pro career has been told he is a problem even though there are far worse players than him who don't draw the ire of anyone.

Is it fair to be concerned about his play? Yes. Is it fair to think this guy is a problem? No more than many, and far less than most.

Yak needs a kick to the teeth, its not always greener on the other side.
You want more ice tim punk, play defence. He's a -14 this year worst in the NHL.
I hope he dose get traded.
MacT make sure you get a few good Canadian boys in return.
