I find it funny when people say a team is looking to get "younger and faster". Isn't that what every team wants to do? Maybe with the exception of the Flyers.

I could handle it if the Oilers focus was to get "older and tougher" .

Meh. Hits don't equal income, although there is an impressions metric advertisers use for payouts, but with so many of us blocking all ads, I imagine that pay type is going to vanish. I haven't seen an ad on HB in a good year plus, ever since the video commercials were put on the right column...that's just obnoxious.

The best measurement for a site is raw traffic.

Any of you guys gonna check out Puckrant next month. It's gonna be troll heaven when you consider Cloutier and Esplen are there. Considering the number of idiots on this site, they should do well over there.

you guys remember Alexandre Daigle lifting you out of your seats every time he touched the puck because you just knew something fantastic was about to happen?

If the Canucks tried to jack up the Schneider price for a division rival and MacT was furious, what do you think the Oilers asking price would be for Yakupov? No chance he'd ever go to Van.

Little chance he gets traded imo.

- Morris

Why would Edmonton trade the guy. They aren't going to make the playoffs this year anyway.

I can't see why you sell when his value is at its minimum. You have to hope he improves and the value goes up.

At this point, he is already regarded as a high-risk, high-reward acquisition. It is not like his value decreases a lot by holding on to him.

Besides, he's young. Give him a chance to work out of it.

Do you think they will make the playoffs before their young players contracts start expiring.

Oilers, 2 regulation wins in year 8 of a rebuild, wow!

YUP!

Let me just get off my soapbox and eat some crow...good catch.

Point is that they needed some D to be developing with their forward stars.

Well, management wanted Murray, but word is that the Owner Katz demanded that Yak be taken first. Is that the reason Yak won't be traded now? If not him, who?! This team must move some O talent to rebalance.

sometimes he needs to just think before writing.

Does Ek ever come to these boards and respond?
sometimes his updates/posts/blogs are sooooooo bad and sooooooo off the mark
does he even watch hockey?

I wanna hear how he justifies some of the stuff he writes...so I can at least understand where he's getting this stuff from o.O

I think fans are getting fed up
This was supposed to be the year they compete and make the playoffs...they are nowhere close! This was the year to expect "bold moves", nothing has been done to steer this ship in the right direction
Even if they made a big move to address their needs, it's way too late and they're likely not going to make the playoffs as you said...but it'll at least be an indication that the team WANTS to win, rather than keep finishing in the cellar for "high draft picks for the future"....they've been doing that for too many years, it's time to win NOW

The Jerry Jones of hockey? That should work out about the same. Add to the agent, his Father talking KHL and all you have left is for the Mom to chime in.........I here she likes shopping in Manhattan!

I agree with almost all of this but have they not done all this since Mact T has taken over:
Perron
Ference
Bryz
Gordon
Gazdic
Traded Smid

Now to me those are bold moves, Well maybe not bold but they arenèt just sitting back and most of those moves are more about winning now then later. They might not have paid of yet but they have been making moves to try and improve the club in every area.

I'm not sure why but i think thw habs could try to get him if he's really on the market. Trying to put him back with Galchenyuk. Seems like Edm needs D and leadership and we have plenty of it. Any trade suggestion from an olier's fan perspective?

Is he a #1 dman? If not, then the Oil aren't interested. The Smid trade indicates they don't just any old dman being added into the shuffle.

Him coming out like this creates even more problems for a team that does not need it. I would not want him on my team and would trade him right away.

Well that's pretty much the problem. MTL has a Norris winner... but after that only an aging #2 in markov and a bunch of #3. But correct me if i'm wrong, but right now im pretty sure Yak's isnt worth a #1 D. His value couldn'T be lower than that right now.

Still don't understand why they did the Smid trade.
