i find it hard to believe that you attended any Victoriaville games.... cause daigle was a bust from the time he put the sens jersey on. i dont recall anything exciting he did... but anyway.
other than that.... yes there are bust similarities, but it's also the sophmore ginx year for yakapov.
it's all media driven.... i'm not sure why yakapov is getting hammered for the oilers futility, and i don't even like the kid, but i wouldnt blame him.
GM - doesnt get a goalie or any defence so hammer him.
hall, eberle - they are the ones who should be shouldering more of the balme than yakapov. - Rockhead_37

You're telling me...that if one team drafts 5 forwards to be the #1 guy and live up to that standard....that it doesn't work?
- Fols19
Perfectly stated. I saw a guy in the Oilers thread start off a sentence with something along the lines of "If we can just get Tyler Myers without trading one of RNH, Hall,Eberle,Gagner or Yak then blah blah blah"
The Oilers have massive glaring holes on the back end. They arent going to be fixed by dealing Hemsky. Just move one of those young forwards already and address it. |

What do you think of Nail Yakupov? He is one of my favorite players to enter the NHL in years and let me be totally upfront and a bit apologetic to Alexandre Daigle...Daigle was also one of my favorite players to come into the NHL as well. I loved watching Daigle play and skate and any game I would attend where Daigle was in the line-up you knew for sure...something fantastic could happen at any moment. - Eklund
Be more generic. I dare you. |

I would personally like Eberle alot more but with that comes a higher asking price and ot be honest I donèt think I would be happy with what would be leaving to acquire Yaks, But I would certainly not complain if he were to be traded to us. |

you have a point...what about these guys in their 4th year and their 2nd contracts that still don't know their own end from their rear end |

Larionov is still friends with Kenny Holland, no? Perhaps we could dump some players for the kid? I'm totally dreaming here and no this never happens, but!!
DET:
Quincey, Samuelsson (has to waive his clause), Eaves, Tootoo, future considerations...
EDM:
Yakupov

they can through in their first for this year to get the ball rolling for some defensive help but they will have to take a project.. a 1st should get the conversation started for McNabb |

No matter how you slice it would be exciting to have a player with his potential coming to your team no matter which team you're a fan of. |

Not a smart move by Yakupov's agent at any rate. Just causing a scene and putting the player in a more difficult position. Coach will have to be harder on him so not to hurt his own position, management can't trade a guy after that since his value will be minimal, etc.
Yakupov is going to have to really be a mature person to rise above all of this. Just an ugly situation here. |

I find it funny when people say a team is looking to get "younger and faster". Isn't that what every team wants to do? Maybe with the exception of the Flyers. - DarthKane

hockeyprospectus defines Core Age as:
The sum of each skater's GVT multiplied by age on
a team, divided by the team GVT. It is a better measure
of the average age of a team, weighting the best
players the most.
GVT is essentially the wins above replacement of hockey.

alot of the rumors are coming from the fact that the edm brass has been seen at alot of other teams games. (seen 3x in a row at rangers games) and because it makes sense. emd has to do something to improve and what theyre lacking is defense and a goalie and IMO a veteran leader. yaks agent coming out and making the comments he made does not make the situation go away.

I still don't get the Smid trade to us outside salary dump. I'd say some greater master plan but we know thats not the case with Oiler management... He's not great but who's a better d-man on the Oilers now? Ference? Shultz? |

The Oilers management blew it hard with drafting Yakupov. They needed to trade down and draft RYAN MURRAY.
How many Oilers fans look at what Jones brings to the table and wish they had that on the team?
This was strictly a case of greedy management not seeing the forest through the trees.
If they trade Yaks no, they're trading at a low point in his value. Foolish. That said, they've been really foolish in their management of him. They should have put him in the AHL to start, let him rack up a TON of points and get teams salivating. Now you have a disgruntled Russian, who is playing below your coach's standards.
One last thing, the team isn't failing because of him. Management has done a poor job of balancing a roster to complement the bona fide super stars on the team. Real shame. |
