some really good chances to get a 2nd here late. - Yosimar89
Like the way the Downie / Couter / Read line is clicking--
but I still want to see Downie up on the wing with G and Perogie.
Can't stand Hartnell on that line anymore. Downie plays the same game but can pass. |

Solid first period. RCD line looks real good, might want to keep those guys together for a couple of games.
They seem to be focusing on going at Mason from his left. Did anyone else notice this? I don't know if they thought they saw a weakness on film, but to be honest Mason's shown no weaknesses this year so they might just be pulling a "why not". |

Question guys. I was watching the sportsnet feed and they were talking about Bobby Ryan and why he wears #6.. it's because he would like to wear #9 in honour of his Favorite Flyer growing up. They mentioned who but I missed it and didn't hear. Does anyone know who that player was? They mentioned it was not necessarily a popular player. Was it Paul Ranheim? - Hextall271
Cochrane, Dvorak, Kelly? Knuble would be too recent |

I also thought the Flyers D did a lot of "smart" pinching that period, instead of backing off so much like the past couple of weeks. |

Pelle Eklund ('86 - '94), DiMaio ('95 - '96), and Zubrus ('97 - '99) wore #9 while Ryan - born in '87 - was growing up. Zubie-dubie-doo, maybe?

they've had good periods, problem is its usually 1 good one a game. Gotta put in a whole games worth of effort like this and gain a little more finishing touch and we'll be on the right track |

He grew up in the 90s, could it be Rob DiMaio? |

Pelle Eklund. - Pixote Andolini
My favorite team growing up was the Philadelphia Flyers, being a Jersey boy from across the river gave me access to a lot of games. My first favorite player was Pelle Eklund. I always wore 16 because of Bobby Clarke, but eventually switched to number 9 because of Mike Modano. My first game wearing No. 9 was against the Dallas Stars two years ago. I got to wear the same number on the same ice as my childhood hero. Talk about a pretty exciting moment.
Thanks for reading,
Bobby

Yeah no kidding. I'm nearly 40 and I was in 6th grade in 1987 when the Flyers went to the cup. |

Born in 87 which means he was a fan of the teams in the 90's. |

I have a feeling Bobby Ryan only liked Mike Modano because he was in The Mighty Ducks and because Gordon Bombay isn't real.
[Update]: Gordon Bombay wore #9 on the Hawks and Minnesota Waves. |
