All this yak poop is giving me a headache.

Smid had some intristing comments tho. Says if the oilers don't start winning there WILL be more trades. And that mact isn't a patent man.

How do you value Huberdeau ?

Potential elite player. Not unlike Yak but so far without the diva side to him...

If trades got done as easily as they do on this message board, MacT wouldn't be as patient.

the team is 4-13-2, Yak should be playing more, the season is over, the Coach wants to help the player?play him,He was a First overall pick for a reason to Score Goals.
- AlEx_OiL

Why is the season over? We're 19 games in to a an 82 game season. Just scratching the surface. If you want to make that same statement 50 games in and the team is under .500 that's fine, but lots of time left to work out the kinks yet this season. Lord knows they have enough talent, it's just figuring out a better team chemistry.

i completely agree... let the kid play - let him do what he was drafted to do... score (frank)ing goals... enough with all the two way play poop... do you really think people cared about Bure's 2 way play??? (frank) no- as long as he was on the ice to score goals... which is why yak was drafted... not to play on the 3rd and 4th lines win 2 mins of PP time in 4 games... its not that complicated...
- saskoil21

In order to have consistent offensive play you need to have good team defense and two way play. I get what your saying, but comparing Yak to Bure at this point is an insult to Pavel. He established his offensive prowess over the course of his career. Doesn't Yak have to put in the time and prove he can do more than just put the puck in the net? Especially on a defensively challenged team like Edmonton? Doesn't he need to earn his right to play his style of hockey? He's a goal scorer, yes. But he's no elite player yet and maybe behind the scenes the coaches/organization want to develop his whole game, not just the scoring aspect of it. Seems to me he thinks because he was a first overall pick that that somehow entitles him to do what he wants versus what the coaches want.

I can possibly understand that kind of behavior from a 4 or 5 year veteran, but in reality this kid still hasn't played an entire season in the NHL.

He and his agent are publically calling out the organization and this is not his first bout of trouble with the coaching and decision making there. If that's not diva-ish, coming from a kid who hasn't even played a full NHL season yet, I'm not sure what is...

Where did he call out the organization??? This was all Larionov opening his mouth and having it blasted all over twitter. He is frustrated with not getting more playing time. He isn't out in the media female doging about it day in and day out. You might want to look up the meaning of the word "diva" and get your facts straight before you go and trash the kid based on your subjective view.

Igor created this situation. Now the poor kid has to deal with it through the media. Not exactly something that is going to help him any.

Exactly. Yakupov went to experienced agent. Experienced agent made the dumb call to go public. People call Yakupov a baby.

Is Bryz starting next game??

Larionov is way out of line, let the kid work through his sophomore jinx and get on with it, how can a guy be such a smart player, yeti such a dumb agent??

I don't think Ilya will play for a bit. Sounds like he is in OKC and not starting there yet.

As for part two. Being a great hockey player doesn't equal you being great once you retire, same as just because you sucked doesn't mean you can't be a good coach or GM.

Bull poop! I'm sure he's not doing things without his clients okay. And if he were, why isn't Nail setting the record straight? Is Yak the first ever number one pick to have his playing time dimminished because he's not playing well or having a hard time following direction of the coaching staff???

You want to make him out to be some sort of victim in all this, go right ahead. But the bottom line is, maybe he should keep his mouth shut and allow his play to dictate how much playing time he gets. Otherwise he's got no ground to stand on if he's going to publically allow his agent to do his dirty work for him and then act like an innocent bystander in the matter.
