The problem the Rangers have making this type of deal is if they don't deal McD and Kreider our farm system dosen't have any other real high end dealable prospects. The best ones are solid but not spectacular. McIlrath was a 1st but in theory he's a late 1st/2nd round talent, and they need someone like him going forward with Staal and Girardi uncertain to return.

exactly the same train of thought i had...

i think i would add one more prospect and nyr can throw a minor leaguer to edm if there are contract number problems.

How do you write this blog and not mention once that Yakupov does not have an NTC (and moreover, isn't even close to qualifying for one)?

For all we know, Mactavish might actually be trying to make a trade but until then, him being "open to" a trade doesn't mean jack poop. Unless that's somehow Russian for "demanding" a trade.

I maintain, for what it's worth, that if Edmonton's going to trade Yakupov it should be an actual hockey trade, not some knee-jerk nonsense.

If the Oilers believe in Yakupov like they say they do, I'd think it would be a better move to deal a guy like Eberle rather than Yaks. Eberle will get the pieces that they need, a couple really good players and a pick probably. At least one top pairing D man and a pick. Then move Yakupov into a more offensive role to balance out the team. I know Eberle is considered one of the "untouchables" but there are obviously some glaring holes on the team and I think they'd be better of dealing from a position of strength rather than dealing a guy who's stock is low. No reason to think Hall, RNH, Hemsky, Gagner, Yakupov won't be able to create a decent amount of offense without Eberle.

nice to see some people left in the world with some common sense. Even if you're the enemy.

Nothing like adding fuel to a fire. These comments are assine, and not in the best interest of the struggling client or the team. If my agent said that I'd fire him, as it going to cause a poopstorm in the media and result in a bigger on ice and off ice distraction.

At the present time no. Also I like giroux but I'm not sure if that's what we truly need at the moment.

In my opinion, if i were edmonton, i would work around trading others than the big 3 named rnh, hall and eberle. I would trade guys like yakopov, the 1st rounder, gagner, and hemsky to get this team ahead if that may be on defense or in toughness

The oilers can make simple trades to acquire the help they need, i just dont see how this is prolonging and is making the oilers look really stupid legit.

Sam Gagner for Myers buffalo would accept since they want centers. You could probably get more out of buffalo for that trade.

I would target Ryan Ellis because i like the players from when guys like eberle, schenn, etc was with team canada juniors, and he would cost cheap

Hemsky+(add something i guess) for Coburn would work because philly needs some more offense and want to get rid of coburn or one of their defense

Now if edmonton dangles yakopov and their 1st Rounder 2014(which looks decent) and a dump salary of N.Schultz, they could arguably get Simmonds and the schenn bros

You should have been gm a few years ago before they resigned hemsky at 5m per and Gagner at 4.5 .

I agree, although RNH won't bring much if any return, can't see him being in the league much longer.

Lots of guys are full of potential, and they don't weigh 160 pounds.
