I don't think so, seen him around after losses/lean times. Maybe he's just "not around". I've taken a few "vacations" from here too. |

Coincidence that a regular like him is MIA when the team is dog sh!t. He wasn't really around late last season too; when they collapsed out of a playoff spot.
It could be other things though; I don't want to assume. He is a good dude overall, funny too. |

If Yakupov gets dealt it will likely be for players that are 25 years old or younger.
No way the 2012 first overall pick goes for good but aging veterans. The Oilers are not a veteran player or two away from seriously competing for the cup. Youth or younger experienced NHL players are the likely ransom for Yakupov. - MidnightMarauder
So a 27 yr old defenseman who is a legit 2/3 would not be an option when he very well could reach his full potential when he's 31? Veteran can mean four or five yrs in the league and that player will probably last another 8 years after being traded. I can't see MacT having an issue with that? |

would you guys be opposed to Girardi+DZ+Miller for Yak+Nultz
kreider/step/nash
hagelin/richards/yak
cally/brass/zucc
moore/boyle/dorsett
all 3 of those lines can score
mcd/nultz
staal/stralman

I don't think the Oilers would be interested in Girardi

Again, I would only give up MDZ as a player of major consequence. MDZ Miller and 1. Offer will remain on the table. Take it or leave it. It may be $0.5 on the $1 but too bad. If they don't want it, fine by me. |

At this point Yakupov's perception around the league/value is looking like an Enron stock in the early 00's.
I still think he can be a really good player in the league but he is in a bad situation in Edmonton. That's a team that had every advantage in the draft and they still can't get it right. |

the team is still all kids to be honest. they won't be a real threat until hall, eberle, RNH, and yak actually fill out their frames and hit their peaks in a couple years. |

I didn't realize he was on a 29 goal, 53 pt pace last year for the shorten season...Maybe we are under-estimating him a bit... |

he is crazy talented. He needs some quality veterans on the team to help show the way. Something we have

Rookie Years:
Nail Yakupov:
48 GP 17 Goals 14 Assists 31 Points PPG .65
Steve Stamkos:
79 GP 23 Goals 23 Assists 45 Points PPG .58
John Tavares
82 GP 24 Goals 30 Assists 54 Points PPG .65
Edit: As far as I underestimating him, it's my personal opinion that he will ultimately be the best of the bunch of all that young Oiler talent. I think in 3-5 years, he will be one of the Top 10 forwards in the world. |

Talent-wise he is outstanding. He is not in the right environment and he is playing for a coach that is ruining his confidence. Not to say Yakupov hasn't played poorly but in dealing with young and elite talent, such as this player, he needs more wiggle room to work some of the bad habits out. Eakins isn't letting him do that so far. |

I think I may be a little jaded by seeing a good deal of him as a Junior Player, but he is perhaps the best player (along with Tavares) that I've personally seen at the level. I didn't see much of Stamkos, and I've only seen McDavid twice as a 15 and 16 year old. What frustrates me is that the perception of the kid is nowhere close to the player I've seen. Sure, he has flare and likes to play with the puck, but he is real, real physical (he ain't no daisy), and he wasn't that bad in the defensive zone for a player with his offensive tools.
I'm not even blaming Eakins. He said the right things last week. The organization as a whole has to do a better job of insulating the kid while he grows, as does his agent who should be going public with gripes. It's just a bad situation for a 20 year old player. |

The Rangers have to hope things get so bad there that they feel it's best for both parties to make a clean break and start over. He has great potential and you could see his talent level for sure. I wouldnt offer up tons though, I wouldn't go much further than the MDZ, Miller 1st offer floated around here. Yakupov may be great in the future but the way his year is going he may not come in here and light it up if acquired. Trading MDZ and Miller would hurt this year's team, MDZ has some bad games but who replaces him? I wouldn't want another Hamrlik debacle. Are Mcillrath or Allen ready to step in? |
