First blown icing call I have seen this year.

There have been several, but that was bad.

Pirri off inside of post short side....

No worries, bozo twins shot out a Brett Feather mention.

You need to watch more games. Hybrid icing is sh!t. (frank)ing pisses me off that they feel the need to tinker with the rules every damn year.

Another sluggish game...not much flow to it on either side. Lot's of stoppages...

Perhaps the strangest personnel move Q has ever made. At least when Montador played forward it had a purpose, and yielded some results.

Brookbank at wing is simply confounding.

- ArlingtonRob

I think John Scott at forward was stranger, but I agree with your basic point.

I've watched every Hawks game this year.... Cannot recall a blown icing call like the one we just saw...

And I actually like it better. What pissed me off was the old "who touched it first" calls that were basically a coin toss. Less injuries too.

Yep. D won race to imaginary line, but nowhere near the puck, nearly on the right dot while puck & Bicks were on left.

Not necessarily a bad thing. The Oilers have schooled the Hawks a few times at pond hockey the last few years.

I'd say they're averaging close to one blown call per game league wide. Way more blown calls than there ever were injuries. Way more. Anything that gives the refs more discretionary judgement calls to make is bad for the game.

I kind of like it, but the refs have been (frank)ing up a lot so far this season.

I was thinking about the comments earlier today about the development of youth hockey in the US. Hopefully, that will lead in the next decade or so to an increase in the number of competent refs and linesmen. Al has made the point many times that there just aren't enough qualified individuals to wear the zebra stripes. Hopefully the growth in participation will start to grow the talent pool in stripes as well.

Are the rest of the announcers at WGN that bad that they need to leave that idiot Dan Roan on Hawks' games?

As someone around youth hockey a bit, I think officiating has gotten worse in recent years... Lack of $$ is a big part too. Most are overworked and underpaid..

I really don't understand the point. How often did someone get hurt on an icing play? Once a year? Twice?

So now we're blowing calls left and right that could potentially change games to guard against a few rare freak injuries?

Idiotic, moronic, pathetic.

New Hawks' promotion for next season. Every home game they hold a drawing from the season ticket holders and the winner gets to do the pregame and between period shows. It couldn't be worse than this moron.

I don't like it either. Leave it alone or go to absolute icing. These guys have the discretion of Bill Clinton at an orgy.

Pirri again, helping Kaner get that Plus minus back to par.
