Reported to be $2M per year. That's next year and the one after - as usually happens it will look damn cheap by the end.

.....And the best thing is when this extension is done Shaw will only be a RFA.

well then I stand corrected.....however, in a year, you need to re-sign

Saad (big raise coming)

Kruger (decent raise coming)

Bollig (small raise, if anything)

I hope they know what they are doing and have enough to give Kane and Toews 8.75-9m each

- ChicagoDave

Saad will have little leverage......And the money will be here for Kane and Toews or others won't be here.

Steen is good. Never really had a very good scoring year despite being a fast and talented player.

With the violent nature of the game, who knows what his gp and goals will be this season.

But some could remember something like a .342 BA for cubs' G Beckert in his career year. Help me on the stat's if you sort of recall, StLouis Braves or anyone who might know.

Couple years ago I pressed RealWiz on Versteeg career year possibility. Playing a lot on top line with Fleischman, was near 20 goals around mid season. What might he finish with. Oh, if I have to say, I will guess 28, Wiz finally said.

What happened. Injury. He finished not to close, barely into the 20 goal range I seem to recall. So with Steen let us hope he can have a career year, as long as he lights the lamp against everyone but us.

Yes - Beckert hit .342 in 1971 - but he was a legitimate .290 guy before that.

Pretty damn good for a guy who only had a one year AHL deal and they had to sign to an NHL contract on the day they brought him up to Philly for his first game. His whole family drove down from Belleville to see him play that game thinking it might be a one and done.

Beckert was a vg player before that but that season was way out of whack considering no PED's back then...supposedly.

Jim Hickman had a big career year here which was out of whack too if memory serves me.

This to Paul as well....but i saw Shaw'zer play LIVE a lot in the spring of 2011. His Owen Sound Attack played and beat Mississauga in 7 games in the OHL final, and then saw him in the Memorial Cup.

When we drafted him that year in the 5th round...i was
and he's proven, he's 4 REAL.

Exactly.

Stan's done a very good job managing to contract statuses of his young players. Kruger, Shaw, Smith and Leddy are all RFAs when their current contracts are up. If Stan can re-sign them, great. If not at least he's trading and RFA and getting something in return instead of letting a UFA walk. He's not committing long term to these guys either, which is fine for this contract. Stan's letting each guy's performance over a longer period of time determine if they should stick around for the long term.

I expect a similar deal for Saad sometime during the 14/15 season.

For the record, I'm a big Sith fan (obviously) but Vader was a wuss.

Saad is restricted at the end of his current contract, it was the standard 3 year entry level deal. If Shaw got 2 years at $4 million I expect Jesus to get 2 years for $4 - $5 million.

Philco...here is a great story for you that I think you will appreciate...

My 8 year old son knocked a kid down during his game on Saturday.....he wasn't penalized or anything but I kept thinking during the game..."why did he do that"

An hour later we're in the car and he says.."Daddy did you see me knock that kid down???" I answered yes and ask what had happened???

He said...."Daddy he hit Braden(his friend and teammate) in the neck with his stick so I knocked him down to send a message......our team doesn't let that happen to each other" I responded "Oh.....where did you hear that".....his reply "Mike Milbury says it on TV all the time.....you gotta protect your teammates"

My son has some red ass.......

You know that old saying that you learn something new everyday? I really could have done without learning what a "catamite" is.

Can we all take Al's advice and stay away from the personal attacks? Or at least move them to the personal messages away from everyone else?

Given, I'm no saint by any means, but this is really just complete bullpoop.
