Why would it matter hiw good a Hawks 1st line is? I'm honestly not trying to bee an asshat; they can be the best in hockey, but Q will invariably break them up to chase some imaginary matchup. I'd be more than happy to eat my words if he leaves it alone ... but he just can't stop himself. - Q...argh
THIS!
Boudreau does this all the time, too. Drives people nuts. The Perry-Getzlaf-Penner line combined has 23 goals, 30 assists, and are a +43 but if they have a bad shift or two tonight against VAN he'll pull Penner. |

If Q does change the lines, then I think he should switch Kane and Hossa.
Hossa on the second line keeps the offense pretty much the same while improving the defense. Then Kane on the first line would re-unite a line we haven't seem dominate in a while:

It's a nice luxury when you can argue that your top line is the best in all of hockey and it doesn't even have your top goal scorer on it. |

that Koivu signing was a little much, almost 7 mil for lots a years - i always thought that was not so good. And you only got Heatly for this season, then he is gone. - Topshelf2010
He's a $5mil/yr player at best....Heater just sucks and seems to be okay with it
If Khaby sucks so badly why hasn't Raanta been given a shot? |

Could you imagine a line of:
Kane-Toews-Hossa
Still would like to see Kane-Kruger-Hossa as the second line. |

They tried it a few years ago (2011?) with Kane going to LW. It didn't work out that well as Kane and Hossa kept ending up in the same place. Neither Kane nor Hossa was comfortable working the other wing. |

Regarding Raanta...the thinking seems to be let him play big minutes in the AHL to get accustomed to the smaller ice and to evaluate his overall game.
If it's decided that Khabby is done, then perhaps Raanta is brought up later this year.
There are cap implications as well, so not sure how the club will handle things if Khabby continues to struggle. |

Unfortunately Kane and Hossa are predominantly RWs. They've played well together with Kane at C, but both of them do not work as efficiently on their off-wings.
The one time they experimented with that line combination- that I can recall off the top off my head (playoff series vs. PHX)- the results weren't particularly exciting. |

It was during the first cup season, and I thought it was working VERY well. Q broke it up, sent Hossa down ti 2nd line and put Brouwer on the first line, where he was Bickelly inconsistent. |

Q generally doesn't mess with success. They're coming off two of consecutive solid wins. So even though I would prefer Morin too, I can't really fault Q for sticking with a winning formula. |

Perhaps the strangest personnel move Q has ever made. At least when Montador played forward it had a purpose, and yielded some results.
Brookbank at wing is simply confounding. |

...when the Oil have faced the Hawks the last several years the Hawks have forgotten how the game is played.

Agreed...or trade him.
No sense in him rotting away with the Hawks if the organization refuses to give him ice time anywhere. |

Since it's Hawks vs. Oil the Hawks may need 6 or 7 to win it. |

That's why they play the games... Would have never expected the Bears/Lions game to have 40 total points. |

More likely than not that he's just fine, but if the Hawks play like the Bears D of late, he won't be "functioning properly" for long |
