That is how it works sometimes. - rtang415
I hope it works for Stamkos; he seems a class guy and he is certainly an exciting player to watch. |

Just a vast array of nuts, bolts, screws, pins, plates or rods that hold the crap together after we've busted it.
About 10 years ago I fell on the basketball court and landed on my hand/wrist to break the fall. Broke the scaphoid bone in the wrist. Doc offered me two choices - 12 weeks in a cast to the shoulder with a 70% chance of success, or a screw (in an operation ) with therapy to start in five days and complete recovery in 6 weeks or so. I took door number two and it worked just as described. Sometime putting the metal in allows for a quicker recovery, even though it sounds backwards. - mohel
Keep in mind that the Tibia is a weight bearing bone and it would be a little different. |

It would be surprising to me if Stamkos could play in the Olympics.
Q. says he hasn't lost confidence in Khabby....Hawks overcome slow start and outlast Oilers 5-4: On the Blackhawks:http://bit.ly/19Wcf6e - Al
Olympic hockey may be exciting but it is a completely overrated hockey event and its likely the last time the NHL participates for awhile unless Bettman can come up with some creative monetary reason to go to some obscure village in Korea in February in 2018. But stars like Stamkos are critical to the NHL game and that's where the big loss is, especially if Tampa sinks like a stone in the standings which I suspect will happen.
I'd rather see no Blackhawks go to Socchi at all but that's just wishful thinking.
A World Cup will get organized soon and then they can tell the crooks at the IOC to pound salt. |

Definitely different than a little bone in the wrist. I was just pointing out that adding metal might not mean a more severe injury or longer recovery time. Looked bad; I hope looks are at least a tad deceiving in this case. |

On a call one time we were sent to an apartment for a 30 year old male who could not get out of bed. Turns out he was a body builder being entertained by two lovely blondes. Apparently at that special moment he clinched so bad that he broke both his Femurs because of his huge quads, etc. We had to call Flight For Life and the two women had gone hysterical. |

While I agree with you about the crooks at IOC, and am hopeful that a World Cup replaces the Olympics, this is all we have for this quadrennial.
As a hockey fun, I want to see quality, exciting hockey wherever I can find it. Four years ago it was found at Vancouver. Hopefully this year it's at Xoshe (I have no idea how to spell it).
And as a hockey fan, I want to see the best of the NHL representing there countries. |

Oh yeah. They were pretty hot. They kept apologizing saying if they had known. He was in seventh heaven until it happened. |

Hey guys, I'm a little late here. I had a similar injury playing hockey where I broke both my Tibia and Fibia just above my right skate about ten years ago. I had pins and plates put in both bones. I was on crutches for 3 months and it took a full year to be able to skate with any confidence. Im really hoping Stamkos is able to return this year before the Olympics but I'm not too sure. Once the break heals, conditioning may be an obstacle and the confidence to feel secure is another. Not the exact same injury but maybe I'm able to describe what it might be like.
Watching that today made me a little sick to my stomach. |

Yes sir. When you have a broken you always worry about blood loss. When you have two it's double trouble and that is why we called flight for life. It's the SOP. |

I bet it did. A friend of mine broke the tib-fib at the ankle and had screws and two plates put in. Rough deal, for sure. She still a feeling in the gut when she sees an injury like that - brings back bad memories. |

Absolutely. The loss of blood into your pelvic area can be immense depending on the injury. |

I've broken a few bones but couldn't imagine what 2 broken femurs would feel like. I'd hope your body would go into shock with that significant of an injury |

Yep. Exactly what happened today. Actually the worst part today was when Stamkos went to skate off and went down again. I saw it live and I thought right away it looked ugly for him. Tough kid, though |

Will just ask you one question - if the USA and/or Canada were to be out of it early, are you getting up at 3:00 a.m. to watch Hammer and his Swedish buddies play a bunch of Finns or Czechs in ugly uniforms who you have never heard of and will never see again? |

Yeah, he is tough. Nothing can really make the bone heal quicker, but he's going to get everything possible to get the muscle back a be in shape quickly. I'll be interested to follow the story, and I hope he's ready when he comes back. After watching my friend during that time, I feel bad about what he's going to go through in the next few days. |

Ha - no, probably not - the problem with the games being in Russia.
Actually, I think the games would be morning - afternoon here - I would watch what I could, certainly USA and Canadian games, other games with Hawks involved.
BTW, after seeing the US and Canadian uniforms, I wouldn't be so quick to call Finland/Czech uniforms ugly. |

It would be really sad to see a Gronkowski type situation if he came back too early. I really hope the best for the guy |
