Of course proper subject matter for a hockey blog board....I guess what Al wrote last week didn't matter to you.

- UnnamedSource

You know that old saying that you learn something new everyday? I really could have done without learning what a "catamite" is.

Can we all take Al's advice and stay away from the personal attacks? Or at least move them to the personal messages away from everyone else?

Given, I'm no saint by any means, but this is really just complete bullpoop.

I hope Morin gets an opportunity Wednesday with Rosi possibly being out.

If Roszvival is out, aren't they down to -0- healthy scratches?

Agreed.

No offense to Michal, but hopefully that injury ends the "Brookbank at wing" experiment.

Yes, I believe so.

I wonder if the injury to Stamkos will make him a different player when he comes back....kid is world class talent.

Reaching UFA status and leaving the team are different animals. As Carcus said, they may be fine with Halak leaving. It could also be true that Steen wants to stay and they want him. If so, there will be a deal. Predicting he'll leave at this point is guessing.
- mohel

What? Reaching UFA status under the current CBA does virtually guarantee you are leaving - particularly in your prime. If you are staying you will extend the year before. If your team lets you get there then they do not want you at your price.

Regardless, it is just as much of a guess whether he stays or goes. I was pointing out that his hot streak makes it more expensive and less likely he stays - that it makes their position more difficult. At his current pace his agent may ask for Sedin money or more. They overpay or let him walk. Either may hurt them.

Yes but are they the same? Something like this could take him from elite status....any one on the board a medical expert or maybe play one on TV?

When all else fails, name call like tredbrta.

The Blues will be good for a while. I am sorry that you have a hard time dealing with that.

- carcus

I actually argued your window may not be as long as you believe. Obviously a good team this year. Could end up being a good team for years to come if the right pieces get locked up. Id'ing those pieces and paying them will be the question and the Halak/Steen situations could throw plans off.

Also, proving new ownership is actually not advertising they are a big spender when actually they will be a budget team (which is more likely).

Having a great season, TB doing well and a trip to the Olympics, that's a tough injury for Stamkos to deal with. Great kid, hope for a speedy and full recovery.

Huge loss for Team Canada, this opens up a spot for a skilled right handed goal scorer. Sharp will be given a lot of consideration.

Fact is all teams have cap issues moving forward...er at least most of them. Things will get sorted out but St Louis sounds like they want to be contenders for awhile so I imagine they will be taking care of who they need to take care of.

Definitely down.

They do seem to pick up some great hockey factotems though - based on today's sharing.

Tibia is the big bone and takes longer to heal. Also depends on the type of break, simple or compound.

Your first sentence says that reaching UFA status virtually guarantees the player is leaving (which is clearly wrong). Then you later say that it will be more expensive if he stays because of his current performance. Confusing....which is it?

You also say "if your team lets you get there then they do not want you at your price." I would add "yet" to the end of your sentence. Dozens of players per year reach UFA status and then somehow re-sign with their team. Sometimes one side needs to see what the market will be. Sometimes one side wants to gamble that the price will change one way or another. That does not mean they don't want to make a deal, or that they won't. I know you want to see bad things happen to the Blues, but you are just speculating unless you've got more info.

You love to lecture the thread about personal attacks and then throw out your little cowardly barbs (like this). Try holding back for a day or so and you may not see me call you on it.

You have improved a bit on your condescension to other posters but that is primarily because you have been preoccupied recently. Maybe hit the treadmill instead?

I do enjoy your attempts though.

The big problem isn't the talent. The Blues have been talented going back to that awful Davis Payne.

I'd be worried about the Hithcock factor though. There's a reason this is his fourth team. Or is it fifth? Dallas, Philly, Columbus...Nope fourth. Anyway, he lasts three to four years. Another exit to the Kings ( Assuming the Blues win the division and the Kings win one of the wildcards....) could set a match to that team.

Of course, that's more hope than actual fact. The Blues are an incredibly talented team. But I question their poise. Until they do it, I just won't believe it. Them and the Sharks..... Yeah they're talented. But they've been talented before. Win something, then I'll take you seriously as a competitor.

- yahoodi

Win something, then I'll take you seriously as a competitor.

Eaxctly!

....And one of the biggest factors in favor of the Hawks is they have won and not once but twice.

You can't pay for intangibles and the collective heart the Hawks have shown isn't easy to find.

Not only the Blues but just about the entire Conference is talented but who will learn how to win will be the question.
