SJ lost 5 in a row - but they've gotten 4 points in those 5 games.
Whatta system. - StLBravesFan
I guess they are losing the "right way".
Sharks are off to their usual start hot, then fade back into the middle of the pack routine. Only thing they have been better at is losing in the playoffs. |

St. Peter's K-8 for me. I was going to ask about Corzine. Went to Peeps, Luke's, or Nikko's pretty much every day for 4 years...probably not too healthy as I think back on it now.
My parents still live in the house I grew up in (on Haddow), and I lived in the downtown area for a while when I first got married (right above La Tasca) before I got priced out of town. - Ogilthorpe2
My son goes to St Peters...has Ms Kuecker, who has been there forever. |

Late to the party tonight.
Best line in hockey? Against the teams they have been playing against...yes....during this stretch. Pretty silent tonight though.
I don't think you see them together against the Blues or the Sharks. That is when I think we see Bickell back on the first line. When the other team comes to check the Hawks into next week, I think Q will counter with more grit up front.
One postscript - can any special team starting with power please accomplish something not for the other team? |

Most Brits are bad cooks, but a Scotsman would be damned offended if you ever compared his poor cooking to an English chump who's just as terrible. It's a funny setup to be sure. - prd797
I think it was John Cleese who said that British food is their way of doing penance for some unmentionable sins in their past. |

The weirdest things guys, no joke:
1. The other night when Bollig checked Pardy, 4 seconds before that I actually said to myself "I haven't seen Bollig check anyone lately"
Then tonight,
2. Right before Kruger scored, I said to myself "Kruger is good, not sure what else he brings, he doesn't score".
Freaky. |

The Hawks PK is crap. - Ogilthorpe2
Maybe Khabby could help out on the PK unit, since SB paid him all of that money they could have used to keep Fro, and he's not getting any time behind net anyway. |

The quote I remember is from an old Daily Show (by old I mean before John Stewart) where John Cleese was asked why does British food suck? His reply was "we had an empire to run."

Patrick Kane was a +22 in Corsi last night. That's so ridiculous. He only skated over 16 minutes. His line was constantly firing on the net. Saad was +17 and Pirri was +11. Saad has just been incredible this year. Here's hoping I see him in Sochi ( I've got a Joe Pavelski-Dustin Brown- Brandon Saad 3rd line for the US......Just my guess.)
It's interesting that this line has won the Corsi battle the last couple of games even though the Toews-Hossa-Sharp line has been getting a lot of the goals and all the recognition. Whatever, it's resulted in lots of goals for the Hawks. So I'm not going to get too worked up over it.
I'd put Ovechkin-Backstrom-Johanson along with the Backes line and Toews line for top line in the league. |

Ovechkin's lines plus minus is a combined -14, vs +21 and +27 for the Toews' and Backes' lines respectively. Hard to consider Ovechkin's line as one of the best based on that stat. |

I'm in the minority most likely ...But I think Saad has a shot and I believe Sharp makes it as well. |

Meant that as two different thoughts. I'd put the Ovechkin line out there if I needed a goal. But as for best line in the NHL you're totally right.... |

Chances are if you put Ovechkin's line out there, they'd be scored against. |

Great article Al, thanks.
I agree about Shaw, with a combination of Handzus' return and Pirri faultering (if that happens) then Shaw could see time in the top 6. Handzus could centre the 4th line and Kruger the 3rd.
Edit: I think it could be possible for Shaw to get top 6 minutes even if Pirri doesn't faulter. |

Pirri hasn't done a lot wrong but...
We know Q thinks a lot of Shaw...
He gets PP time and also is on with Kane during OT rotations.
I think Shaw has some offense and has played well so that will give Q options plus give Bowman more time to wait.

I like Pirri's game, he needs to position himself better without the puck but with it he seems to see the ice well, is a good passer and has a good shot. Shaw also seems to see the ice well and he also passes well, Shaw's advantage is, right now he is better positionally without the puck than Pirri. I think the one advanatge Pirri has, assuming he can tighten up defensively, is he may have more offensive upside than Shaw. |

Agree on all points, Pirri hasn't done anything wrong and Q loves Shaw.
Shaw on the 3rd line seems to be providing solid depth and he's been very effective on the PP. Shaw has shown some good chemistry with both Saad and Kane. I wonder how long it will take Q to go with a 20/65/88 2nd line.

Or just Ovechkin, check out Landeskog goal against him last night when they put him on the point.
Excited to play you guys soon, want to see how we match up with one of the big boys of the division. |
