Correct, which is why it made business sense at the time.

Bob was the highest paid back up in the league at the time. If you were giving Bryz that much money to be "the guy", Bob was a luxury at the time.

And the CBA did not allow for compliance buyouts at the time, which is why they felt they were "pot committed" to Bryz.

There were a few other issues, too.

Bob showed promise, but he was also inconsistent. He needed to develop, but was not waivers exempt, so he couldn't be sent to the AHL, without clearing waivers.

There were the KHL rumors, too, that he'd go back to Russia and play, and the Flyers would be stuck holding the bag.

And let's face it, Bob had a stellar half season for the Jackets. He still hasn't shown he can be a top level goalie over the course of a full season. I like his ability and work ethic, but he's not on the level of a Lundqvist, Quick or other elite level guys yet.

Terry Murray is certainly good at what he does. He may not be the greatest in the NHL but he's great at teaching kids how to play defensive hockey (helped a lot on the kings).

Good game yesterday. First game I have been to in 3 years. You guys should get me tickets to every game. I'm just their GL charm. Season ticket holder in 2010 and the playoff game I went to was game 4 vs Boston. Got them off that snide now I got giroux off his.

He did a good job at most of his NHL stops. He's a good coach. Develops young players well, and does a very good job instilling discipline and teaching.

great for young teams bad for contending teams which is why he'd be great in the AHL with our prospects

LA wasn't really a contending team until after the landed more scoring in Carter and Jonathon Quick finally showed up in the playoffs. Prior to the last two years, Quick was pedestrian, at best, in the playoffs.

They did that under Murray...in fact he's the one that got them to play better defense. They won that Stanley Cup, in very large part, because Quick played tremendous hockey during the playoffs.

Quick's GAA from 2010-11 to 2011-12 in the playoffs, dropped almost 2 goals per game. That has very little to do with the head coach

The interesting thing of it is that Bob has struggled this year for CBJ and, to me, Mason has been lights out. I would say he's our MVP so far. If he plays all year like this, I am more than happy to sign him to a 3 or 4 year contract. It really looks like he's confident and that Reese has helped his game. If we could have scored even just a bit more, his record would be great.

giroux looked like old giroux yesterday... fire in his eyes and his game

bill mentioned him making a move cutting inside for the goal,
something he hasn't been able to do much this season and which has been an effective weapon for him previously in his career

was there some other hidden injury that we don't know about? seeing him play like his old self looked like night and day with what we've seen from him so far this season
