Just chiming in now.. Glad Bryz is back in the NHL.. It's so ironic that he used to beak off about how desolate Winnipeg is, now he's in an even more desolate spot in Edmonton... lol

As someone said, thank God he's not starting for the Oilers today, it would have been hilarious to see him shut us out...

- Hextall271

God help us if he starts pitching consecutive shutouts for the Oil. The HB servers might burst into flame.

Flyers captain Claude Giroux was in a minor car accident Friday night, but was not injured, according to a report on @CrossingBroad. I will talk to Giroux shortly at the Wells Fargo Center and get more details.

Reportedly, Jay Rosehill was also in the car and was not injured.

Giroux will try to snap a 21-game goal-less streak Saturday afternoon against Edmonton

If homer trades Coots in a package deal for Hemsky or even Yak I quit following this team. I am sick of the young guys getting traded. I can deal with a bad team if there is a plan. Trading young guys for a unproven young guy or older guy is dealing from a point of weakness IMO.

Today's game concludes the home-heavy early portion of the Flyers schedule.

Good. Go on the road for awhile. Couldn't hurt.

they need to keep their kids and picks and build. I can deal with trading a young guy for a young guy but I will lose it if they move a young kids for a veteran

I think they are talking with a lot of teams, including Edmonton. I also think that now is a bad time to trade because Philly is dealing from a position of weakness, and other GMs want them to blink first.

I will also add this. I was talking with Scoop Cooper before Thursday's game. Scoop knows most of the scouts, especially the veteran ones. The consensus among other teams' scouts is that they've seen enough of the Flyers to know there are very few, if any, players who have impressed them.

- bmeltzer

Is this their overall opinion or leveraging against a struggling team? Do they think our players are that bad that no one is interested or simply unimpressed right now with individual to make a deal right now? It's hard not to agree with them right now, but I would think there would be teams out there thinking a change of scenery could help. It's so frustrating nearly every player is underperforming. Hard to find anyone other than mason to say you've been really happy with their play all year.

I wonder if all the trade talk, specifically around Edmonton helps them come out fired up today.

great, two 24/25 yr olds who have played well in the past but struggling now for a 30 yr old UFA. Homer does that, I want him fired now

AgreeD 100% if we aren't getting yak or eberle we better not be trading with oil

I like the point that the road trip might be a good thing. These guys desperately need to start playing like a team.

Giroux is hanging out with Rosehill? Now I understand the problem! Maybe Rosehill is there to deter fans from targeting Giroux in public

.....and don't forget the only draft lottery in major sport that takes place in a back room and then staged for the cameras later.......just in case the Flyers do finish dead last and the elite pickings are thin!

Honesty is couturier anymore proven than yakupov? Not advocating this trade by any means, but couturier hasn't early solidified himsel as an offensive threat or selke winner. He has shown flashes and would love to keep him, but he's not untouchable in the right deal, IMO. Though the return better be for a legit mobile defenseman if he were to be traded. Probably the only scenario if be OK moving him.

Totally agree...that's hideous.
At this point, any trades need to be made with next season in mind. If this season is to be salvaged, I think it has to come through building for next year. Look at the personnel that are here, and look at who will be on the roster next year, and figure out who doesn't fit. To me, that's probably B Schenn. When you add Laughton to the center mix, I think Schenn is the easiest to part with.
If there is a deal that brings back a player that will be a good fit (like a young Phoenix dman,) then the sooner the better. But if it's not out there, wait until the deadline and move pieces like Kimmo that have no value to this team next year, but can help a team looking to make a run.
Any move for an older player to try and jump-start this team is a loser. Focus on the foundation, and better play will eventually come as a result.

I heard he was parked at the Wells Fargo center and he was at the lost and found seeing if anyone had turned in his mojo since it has been missing since last season. He had Rosehill with him as his muscle in case they weren't willing to return the mojo. Police report says unfortunately his mojo wasn't reported to be in the lost and found.

What if it's with other struggling teams? How do you trade from a position of weakness with anther team in a position of weakness? Trades can be made but there won be many options. The longer they wait the better the return could be, but I don't think there's no chance for a decent trade at this point.

Hard to believe we are only 15 games in with all of this talk.

Trades are somewhat like playing, poker, chicken and HR person all in one fell swoop. Competing teams are never going to say how great a player is unless they are softening up stances before a game or "being generous" in a postgame interview.

No way 18 players turn into garbage all at once that cant score, or even pass the puck at an AHL level, there is other "stuff" going on inside their heads and its coming down from the top.......

No offense bill but this "position of weakness" is the worst excuse I've ever heard of. Under that theory our position will only get worse because we continue to lose and look worse as a team and therefore are more desperate. So when and how does the position turn from weakness to strength? When we get better? If we could get better we wouldn't need the trades then in theory. Yeah teams will try to lowball offer for players at first but as long as you stick to your guns a fair trade can always be made. Key of course is just not to trade stupidly
- SMS4016

A position of strength would be to either wait until at least some of our current players begin to play their way out of slumps and increase their value somewhat. Or, if we continue to freefall, wait until the trade deadline when contenders are desperately looking to add a piece or 2 to make a cup run.

On the bright side I won't be watching today since I'll be out, which the Flyers will play well.
