Well that's a horrible deal for the Flyers.
They get a bad player, but give up a decent one and a half-decent one.

But u arent paying attention at all if you think l schenn is better than hemsky.
Schenn's a healthy scratch, while hemsky has been decent to good.

Leafs raped the Flyers in the JVR for Schenn trade. That said, Hemsky is probably worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick and a decent to crap prospect at most. Luke Schenn is at least young, so its more of a matter of Schenn being worth more than Hemsky than it is about him being a better player at this stage in their career. Have to take the scratches in perspective, like Yakupov, for example.

They don't. They already have Voracek and don't need another similar player. Hemsky will be one of the most sought after players come deadline time so if I'm the oilers, I hang onto him for max value. They aren't making the playoffs now anyway. Plus he's a UFA so why would the flyers trade for him and give up a lot? Itamakeanoasensa.

There is a significant goaltender problem on the Oilers and this "could" solve it. It's a low risk move, which is great.

Smid is slow and while I like his grit, he is totally expendable and replaceable. He really didn't add much but salary cap.
