That would still be a bad trade for Eberle. Yakupov I could see them trading, who knows how good he turns out to be(could be a leading scorer on a team for years, or a streaky 25-30 goal scorer, 60 point type player), clearly he has a ton of talent and will be a top 6 forward though.

I'd rather keep the young guns, I'm just not as high on Simmonds and Coburn as many seem to be.

at the end of the day, the rangers are doing well, winning games, and scoring goals without rick nash. so we're not in a rush or pressured to make any move. with that in mind, and knowing sather's trading expertise, i expect any move for yakupov to be a favorable one for the rangers.

Value wise I don't think that first one is that far off. Giroux has had one elite season but hasn't looked the same offensively since losing Jagr.

not straight up, but for a package deal i think it could benefit the oilers. simmonds is a good 2nd line winger that scored 28 goals 2 seasons ago and i believe he was on pace for 30 last season, but i'm not 100% sure.

the oilers have enough guys that theoretically should score 40+ goals or 90+ points a season, even without yakupov. what they're missing is the gritty players that can chip in with 15-20 goals a year throughout the rest of their lineup. the guys that add heart, establish the forecheck, stand up for teammates, spark their teammates when the team is down, and make their team hard to play against.

this. And you say in your Jones comparison, not even a defensive stalwart third liner, but more secondary scoring. Simmonds could be a wonderful for nuge and ebs offensively, but cheaper options could serve us better

Crap owner, crap, GM, okay coach, players who have given up. Loads of talent in the forward group, they need a shake up. Simmonds to Edmonton might be a good start.
