Smid is a decent second pairing d-man IMO(yes, I know he hasn't looked as good this year). They better be brining in another defensmen or their already horrendous defense just got worse.

Looks like a Brian Burke deal. He never sits still and waits to build through the draft. Maybe this sets up a move for the Flames, to move out a defenseman. Someone like Denis Wideman makes sense, going to somewhere like Philly for more forward depth.

I just traded for Giroux in my keeper league, I'm banking on him waking up soon enough. His on-ice shooting% is way too low for a player of his talent.

Yeah, but during the past few years he's been one of the team's few competent/decent defensmen, I'll take the larger sample size since he isn't at the age where he's slowing down. Seems like the Oilers just sold low, unless one of these prospects turn out to be good NHL'ers.
