Would both sides do a trade between Edmonton and Philly: Simmonds and Coburn for Eberle? I feel like that's more or less even considering each team's needs. It would explain the Smid trade in the sense that Edmonton would have to take back a good amount of salary.

As a basis yes, but Edm would have to send something else back as they are at max contracts.

Brossoit, freed up cap and roster space for another deal.

Both those kids have been decent to good. But we lost some of the only toughness and willingness to engage we had.

Brossoit is a junior goaltender with poopty numbers. I've seen him play and he's terrible.

Most minutes? Nope. Justin Schultz and Petry have been playing more than him since last season. He's struggled since before he even signed that contract. Now that the team actually has a couple other quality defenders, his appeal has worn off.

He sucks. Dude had some skill but should've been in the AHL and not the latest terrible attempt at being Iggy's centre.

But i dont understand why we need to move 4mil of salary tho.
Bryz shouldnt be getting more than a mil maximum

Again, no. He was buried in the A, Feasters first prospect acquisition, showed promise, got buried in the depth chart after the Knight and Colbourne transactions.

He has heart and some talent, cld be a 3rd or 4th liner one day. He was never cracking Calgary's lineup again. The spine depth was so bad Jamie Lundmark had top line minutes.

Smid has been here for 5+ years.

We know what kind of player he is. He has some attributes that'll be missed, but big picture this makes sense for many reasons.
