What about
B. Schenn, L. Schenn, and Simmonds for Eberle and Gagner
Gagner becomes expendable as B Schenn gives you are bigger body and equally talented second line C. L. Schenn comes as the package deal with his brother and is in the doghouse right now, but could bounce back under a D first system like Eakins. Simmonds is a perfect fit on the top 6 in Edmonton adding grit and net drive.
I think that's a fairly equal trade. A pick or prospect might need to be included. - ILoveLamp
Lines would like nice too
Hall - Nuge - Yaks
Perron - B. Schenn - Simmonds
Smyth - Arcobello - Hemsky

no interest in another struggling, slowish defensive player like l schenn. we have a couple of those already.
change l schenn to Coburn and we'll add another piece and ur talking.

I like what you're thinking, but I don't think the Flyers would want to deal that much size and only get two players under 6'0'' back... Just my opinion. Otherwise, the value is quite good for both teams. - Flyers_V88
Maybe not, but your C position is pretty locked up with Giroux and Lecavalier in the mix. Couts can still be salvaged if developed, making you weak on the wings.
Eberle might be the top player in this trade, and having him play with Giroux or Lecavalier could be electric. Gagner is more cap going back and can play a decent two way game as a third line centre, moving Couts up to play wing.
Your top 6 can essentially be
Hartnell - Giroux - Eberle
Couts - Lecavalier - Voracek |

You realize they would have to beat a team in the East too right? - Arctic_AARDVARK
All their wins this season are against Eastern teams. The Oilers team would be much better suited to playing Eastern style hockey which typically caters more towards excitement and offense (Philly, Pittsburgh, Washington, Toronto, Ottawa, Florida [HA!], Detroit, etc) more than the defensively-focused, bigger, and grittier styled Western Conference (St Louis, LA, Nashville, Anaheim, and to a lesser extent Vancouver, San Jose, and Winnipeg). |

Besides Gagner's NTC, I still think I'd rather add a little more to get Coburn as opposed to "settling" for Schenn. Frankly, the value isn't all that bad in my opinion, but others will see it differently. |

Yup. Funny how EVERYONE seems to think the Flyers D has been the issue. It hasn't been, at all. It's their inability score. - Flyers_V88
Right is that why Luke Schenn has been a healthy scratch? Because he's so good? |

Horray! More inconsistent offensive producers that can't win faceoffs If that trade were to happen, I think the lines would go more like:
Hall- Arco- Simmonds
Schenn- Nuge- Yak
Perron- Gordon- Hemsky
But it's really not important as Eakins would changes the lines every damn period. |

Theres a mix in both conferences, but yea the west tends to be a little more defense first. Has Edmonton beat and good East teams yet? I haven't watched all their games. |

Montreal? They outplayed Tampa, but didn't get the win in the end. Besides that, no. Their wins are against Florida, Ottawa, Montreal, and the Islanders. |

What successful team would want to disrupt their chemistry by adding overpaid underachiever right now? And Edmonton would've the last place Giroux would want to get traded to. |

Theres a bunch of idiot leafs fans saying Ebs is the Oils best player.. When i say Hall is i get "Do you even watch hockey bro"?? Yes bro i do. I really hope you guys get something going soon. It sucks living in Alberta and not even being interested in Oilers games. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Most Eastern fans see nothing but highlights and make their judgement based on that. ANYONE with any hockey sense can watch a dozen Oilers games and clearly see who our best and most important player is. Nuge may become that one day but is not right now. And Eberle is no where close to Hall....not even close. |

we'd struggle in either conference, but we just get killed against the la's and san joses etc.
as far as decent teams go, we beat the habs and the sens.
shoulda beat Toronto in that first game too... |

Successful team? Philly is one of only two teams with a worse record than the Oilers right now. With their history, it's right about "Shake-up Time". |

I'm kinda not sold on Simmonds. I think his hockey playing abilities aren't much above grinder, and that the physicality he brings overshadows that. I don't think you trade a first liner for an average player with physicality, even if we need some of it and if we're getting another piece back. |

To be fair, though, it's hard to watch Western games when you live out East. |
