1) Hall cant play a full season... and
2)last year Eberle played the whole half season with a hand injury for (frank) sakes and still finished what 3rd in scoring
3) When hall pots 70 or more pts a season come talk to me - saskoil21
Eberle's 70 point season was the result of unsustainable shooting percentages. We all know that. He hasn't matched close to that pace since. |

Ur team obviously did not trade the Sedins but we should trade Eberle?? Eberle is easily on pace to have a better career than the Sedins and yet we should trade him... I just dont agree... Had Dubnyk and Labarbara not been (frank) ups we would not even be debating this crap... - saskoil21
Eberle is a commodity that we have a surplus of. That wasn't the case in Vancouver (whose only other pure skill player was Hodgson). |

This is (frank)ing stupid. One of the dumbest rumors out there. Give them Yakupov, him and Voracek can struggle together. |

Eberle is your second best player you're losing the season quickly, the Canucks are not, very different situations! Oilers brass need to get, in order to do that you've gotta give, OR, just keep losing…it's not really that difficult of a decision if the right players are coming back.
What do you have to lose, other than keep things as they are and keep losing. I for the life of me can't understand why the fans don't want to make changes but they want a better team. What are we on year seven of Oil Change? |

That is true. But there's reasonable evidence that Hall has a higher production ceiling. Plus, he's better than Eberle in a few other statistical categories. |

Really dont see many players on this oilers team doing what Eberle does... I would rather trade Yakupov and Gags- quite easily... |

30 is a 20+ goal season. Fact is he's scored more than 20 only once in his career. Yes the Sedins are soft skilled players, but the team around them isn't, therein lies the issue with Edmonton. - LeftCoaster
So wait why can't we change the team around Eberle then? |

Eberle for Giroux doesn't fix Edmonton's forward problem. The problem with Edmonton's forwards isn't a lack of skill. They have loads of skill. The problem is that they have no one to crash and bang and create loose pucks for the skill to take over.
If they could somehow get Simmonds in the package that would help the Oilers more than Giroux.
*Note* I am not saying that Simmonds is a better player than Giroux. But he is more suitable to fix the Oilers issue.
I honestly think that if the Oilers could get someone like Kunitz, Simmonds, Callahan or another player of that mold it would drastically improve the Oilers. A buzzsaw player that crashes, scores and is willing to stand up for the Halls and RNH's of the world. |

This could get interesting, I'll be watching closely. Yesterday I was on about how the Oilers needed a player like Simmonds in their top six, I stand by that and say the deal (if there is in fact one) will be centred around Simmonds. - LeftCoaster
Joensuu was supposed to be our guy this year, and imo he was doing alright in pre-season before he injured his back... I would bet that he's done for the year if this trade rumour is to have any legs?
I'm not sold that Couturier is who we need, he had a good first season (i think?) and then he's sorta disappeared (granted I don't watch the Flyers much). He's less proven that Gags a a 2C. |

You'll get no argument from me! Hall is our best player by a good deal and- along with Nurse- is our only "untouchable" asset. |

This! I usually agree with a lot of what MaximumBone states, but I can't agree with him at all on his tent-pitch to get rid of Eberle.
Who exactly has shown they can match Eberle's skills? |

Over the 2nd half of last year, he shot at a very high pace. I think he's just incredibly steaky.
And I would certainly take Hall above him. |

You could, but the rumour says Eberle. Who's more valuable on the wing, Hall or Eberle. I say Hall and RNH make a perfect pair. Eberle will bring the biggest return if the Oilers want to keep Hall. |

I hope JJ get's back soon. Back injuries just linger for the longest time, I've had a few during my rugby career. It never gets better. Brayden Schenn is who I would want over Couturier. |

We arent making the playoffs this year anyway... this season is done... goaltending helped fast forward that result... Trading your core assets as a knee jerk is not right either... unless its for a ransome... I guess I dont know what is proposed... I just know what Eberle brings to this team... |

Who wouldn't? Don't get me wrong; trading Eberle would KILL me inside (massive man-boner for the guy), but teams aren't looking for young struggling forwards right now. If we want to improve our team SIGNIFICANTLY, then it's going to take a SIGNIFICANT player going back. Smaller fixes could certainly help as well, and I'm not saying trading a guy like Eberle is the only way, but if you want players like Simmonds and/or Coburn, it's gonna take a proven and producing player to get them. |

Well Omark and Eager have been sent down to OKC so that makes room for Perron and Joensuu to come back. I wouldn't pull off a trade until we get Joensuu back for at least 3 games to see what the guy can do in a actual game situation.
Coburn for Smid/N Schultz + picks
Giroux for Omark, 2nd pick and a prospect |

Yeah, I don't full out BLAME Dubnyk. Yes, the defense is crap.
But as a team, you need to feel that when you make a mistake he'll be their for you.
I missed last night's game and to wake up and see the Garner blog was just deflating.
I feel bad for Dubs but when you're goalie is unfortunately as bad and/or psychologically fragile as the defense? That's bad starting pitching and you can't win.
This sucks.
