He's languishing on the 3rd line, and looks disinterested, the coach looks like a guy who's a little out of his element. - OLDSCHOOL#6
I thought Edmonton was absolutely awful today in just about every phase. Watch them carry the puck up the ice; there is no support, it's all about one guy skating the puck through the neutral zone and trying to beat three or four defenders off the rush. They have virtually no one who did any kind of work pursuing the puck when they dumped it in. They had a tough time creating any kind of chances given their difficulty getting the puck into the offensive zone with possession.
Defensively it was the same thing. They had difficulty making any kind passes in the defensive zone to initiate a transition game. It was either off the mark or they couldn't handle it. It's almost like how the Rangers defense looked earlier this season when they had to think about where they should go with the puck and by the time they thought about it it was too late.
Right now they are really struggling. They need to do something to shake things up. Yakupov was far from the only problem on that team tonight. |

sounds like a coaching problem more than anything. |

Im looking forward to seeing Nash get back on the ice... however I dont want to see much line shuffling when he is back.
Kreider, Stepan, Zucc
Hagelin, Richards, Cally
Pouliot, Brassard, Nash
Are the lines Id like to see. |

I agree, no need to fix what isn't currently broken just because another piece of he puzzle is suddenly available. |

It would also give them the chance to send Miller back down, and call someone up for the 4th line.
Like Haley, I dont mind Haley. |

I also think it is important to solidify whatever it is they want to do with the 4th line ... a constant rotation (injuries aside) isn't helpful. In their last two playoff exits, they had zero answers for the 4th line of the opposition. |

Reason why is because our 4th line isnt very good, point blank. There isnt anyone there with much skill, theyre not overly impressive on defense, and when you have Boyle and Pyatt making up your 4th, the skating is atrocious.
Most of the other teams play young hungry kids on their 4th... usually mid-tier prospects who project to be depth guys, 2nd 3rd liners.
Id like to see a 4th line of Haley/Fast/Miller/Kristo, Lindberg, Boyle |

I think Boyle and Moore are fine, maybe nt impressive, but fine. The bigger issue, at least under Torts, was that the 4th line hardly played in the playoffs ... a 3 line rotation gets tired and an effective 4th line, energy unit can take advantage of tired legs. that said, I don't think its specifically about direct 4th line match-ups, but a trusted ability to roll all 4 lines. |

I think a 4th line of boyle/pyatt/dorsett would be solid |

too slow as a unit ... good size, but no legs ... |

Don't think we have to worry about that, Pyatt has a concussion |

Thanks for all the great comments, guess I missed the Hemsky storm last night. Let me repeat again, I want no part of Hemsky here as don't believe he is a good fit. |

Don't you think Miller is wasted on the 4th line?
i'd like to see a 4th line unit built similar to the Renney days ... maybe not the greatest offensive upside, but never outworked |

I like a Moore-Boyle-Dorsett 4th line |
|

I wouldn't want miller wasted on the 4th line if we think someday he has the potential to be a 2nd line player . . . On the 4th line you can't get ride of boyle because of his faceoff ability/size/pk . . . Pyatt becomes interchangable but dorsett is the only one willing to drop the gloves this year so I wouldn't drop him |

I prefer Boyle as a 3rd liner, BUT, the days of a Boyle, Prust, Fedetenko line are far gone |

But with Nash, Stepan, Kreider, Zucc, Richards, Cally, Hagelin, Pouliot and Brassard...Boyle kind of gets pushed to the 4th line. IMO, makes this team that much better. |
