Absolutely. I think he shouldn't be allowed to play ever again. Just ask the Canucks blogger. She ran with it for 5 days. I think it's because the League loves the Leafs and allow to get away with murder. It's just not fair really.

Based on the NHL rules, Lupul should have received a penalty for intent to injure. A suspension would be ludicrous as he didn't actually make contact with him. Say whatever you want but it was a dumb play by an otherwise great player.

I think there is an overall problem with this league when fans start talking more about suspensions and penalties then about the games themselves. How many rule changes has this league had in the past 20 years compared to any other major sport, not tweaks but full out changes. The league has turned into a circus under Bettman, next thing you'll see is a 2 point line and if certain players score its worth more.

And most of the time that NFL player gets a fine as well. For some reason, the NHL can't/won't go that route.

Agreed, the NHL needs to take a stand it follow it. Adding a substantial fine on top of a 5 minute major is what the NHL should do.

If we're considering Joffrey Lupul a "great" player, our standards have become very low. Don't get me wrong. He's a good player, and I'd take him on my team, but he's far from "great" or elite.

Garth - you deserve a suspension. That wasn't a suspension hit - especially with Shanny at the helm.

Let's focus on how this team sucks - needs a coach - needs a GM.

I think the hit on molson from behind into the boards was worse. never even called a penalty on it.

I think we are also missing the point. Myers in back to back games has tried to fight!

Nice, clean shoulder-to-shoulder hit by Frattin. He then proceeds to get jumped, and still ends up winning the fight!

Garth - you are a neanderthal. Nice haircut!

It's hard to "win" a fight when there are 2 landed punches between both combatants...

Garth, your blog -- which I used to read pretty faithfully -- has turned into a daily witch hunt, void of an editor. You are at your best when talking about the Sabres and focusing on hockey rather than discipline.

yeah, we should definitely hire dineen. part of me thinks ramsey wouldn't be a bad get either but idk. I kind of like chadd cassidy from interviews but don't know his effectiveness in rochester, just that he seems well put together in interviews and seems knowledgeable.

Stat correction... Quick won game 158 in his career, in his 300th NHL game played.

Opinion on hit... I've seen worse, but it's McCormick's defenseless positioning and the fact that he doesn't have possession of the puck that matters most to me. Kassian was suspended in Juniors for a hit just like this, but he hit a guy who was much softer than Cody McCormick. I get that people on here are saying that he was sticking his head forward on the play... fair enough, but the puck was more than 5 feet away from him when Frattin took him out. The hit is unnecessary and that, in addition to the contact he made directly to his head (intentional or not), is what makes this hit worth looking at from the league perspective. If McCormick was a star player, this would without a doubt lead to a small suspension... since he is not, I'm sure nothing will happen. Right or wrong, that's how I see it.

True - not exactly a couple of bruisers. I'm surprised Myers wasn't able to fill Frattin in though, being a giant and all

If Sabres Patrick Kaleta or John Scott delivered this same hit to Frattin, would there be a disciplinary hearing scheduled?
- garth

Yes, because Kaleta or Scott would probably have delivered the hit illegally (suspect). The hit, as it was, was fine.

It doesn't matter to Garth, any hit to a Sabre should result in a suspension. actually any hit now to Garth should result in a suspension and every player/coach/ asst coach / etc.. that's available the Sabres should get and every team is in need of a player that the Sabres have and should be speed dialing Darcy to make a trade and in the process send Darcy a ton of first round picks.

I think that sums up Garth's blogs on a daily basis.

I agree, I'm not saying anything about the fans , if anything I feel sorry for them not only for the way the team is playing but then having Garth associated with them makes it worse..

I couldn't agree more. Kevin and Rammer are two superior hockey people and teachers who could do much to help right the Sabres sorry state.

Garth have you watched any Flyers games this year? Besides a couple games the goalies have been outstanding, and IF NOT for goaltending from Mason and Emery the Flyers could very well be winless..to say they are a joke is a joke sorry.

I like Pysyk as much as the next Sabres fan... but if you need him to close a deal for Jordan Eberle, you make that trade. The Sabres have young blueline depth. Pysyk is good, but you have to give up something to get something in return. Reminds me of when the Sabres wouldn't deal Tyler Myers for either Bobby Ryan or Ryan Getzlaf 2-3 years ago... what a mistake that was! For what it's worth, Edmonton seems interested in Tyler Ennis and possibly Drew Stafford, as well... all relative in terms of what each would cost. Sabres would have to take back Hemsky, I'm sure, as part of the deal.
