the logical side of me thinks that as well. i see him being edmontons captain for the next decade.

however, the thought of him potting 40 a year on giroux's wing gives me shudders.

- stayinthefnnet

If Edm trades him their GM should be fired
he is a guy to build around, and I'm sure they realize that

Got it on good authority. #Hemsky's locker being cleared out in Philly. Looks like he's been traded. #Oilers

There's a miswording there. Not sure how they could be clearing out his locker in Philly. The gist is obvious, though.

There is no trade... only speculation from the Edmonton Journal about a hypothetical Eberle for Giroux, or Eberle for Couturier/Simmonds swap.
- Tomahawk

i think the main allure in getting eberle is to play with giroux. moving giroux to get him, is largely a lateral move. now coots/simmonds for eberle i would do in the flyers shoes

I wouldn't.

Eberle's good, but he's not more productive than TWO top-9 forwards, especially considering that he hasn't outscored Simmonds alone by a wide margin over the past 2 seasons.

Add in his crazy contract and you have a no-go for me.

Could you imagine if the trade eberle to Philly for couts and simmonds and yakupov to rangers for staal and kreider?

The thing about Hemsky is he has elite skill and puck-carrying ability, but he's also a pass-first guy and, most importantly, UFA at the end of the year.

That doesn't mean you can't trade for the guy, but in our situation, giving up anyone who is signed for more than a few seasons, who is younger than Hemsky...I don't see how he would fit in Philly, with where we are.

Love the skill, speed and vision, but with where we are...I just don't see any kind of fit that makes any sense.

He was a few seasons ago; he just flat-out couldn't stay on the ice. He's been better with that for the lockout season, this year.

No way Hemsky is traded for a young guy locked up for 5-6 years, even though I am not a fan of Simmonds he is worth more. Plus it doesn't work unless the Flyers unload more salary to Edmonton or somewhere else. Hemsky and prospect for Meszaros or Coburn + additional money dump maybe.
