Maybe, that's why I say it's a gamble. With that trade we get 2 1st rounder in 2014 and 2 1st rounders in 2015.

If Edm or philly is in the bottom 3 which is most likely.... well Mcdavid or a 1st or 2nd on each year 2014 and 2015 is likely possible.

You guys wanna rebuilt, that's a possibility. At the same time Haag and Morin and Laughton have a couple more years to join the big club and Cousins also.

It's a strategy, just a thought I'm putting out there

Hey, I understand where you're going with it -- it's a little expensive, but nothing matters with this franchise unless we get somebody to ride shotgun with Claude Giroux who can consistently think and play offense at the level that he does.

I wish; that'd solve a lot of problems. I thought he was the answer, but consistency, knowing when to pass and when to shoot, hockey sense...those are things we're just not seeing from him this season.

No, I agree that Eberle could do it, and as I said, I wish Voracek was...I question his consistency, his ability to bring it over 82 games.

I wish I didn't. It'd be nice to not worry about almost every freaking position on the roster.

Since the last year and a half, Voracek had a point per game with the Flyers. Bill wrote about it plenty of times here. As of now NOBODY on the roster is producing like last year, and specially like the year prior.

I am just glad that the Flyers had that brawl last week. THey are playing so much better and with so much more "jump".

I hear you, and agree with what you just wrote. This year, I've just been really stunned with Voracek's decision-making and overall hockey sense.

It's been disappointing, to say the least -- on a team that is starving for goals, you don't throw backhand, cross-ice passes through three guys, when you have his skillset and ability to carry a puck. You take it and try to score, generate shots and rebounds.

I'm not begging Voracek or Giroux to stand in front of the net like John LeClair or Mike Knuble. I just want them to at least take the puck there and shoot it instead of making low percentage plays, which leaves me questioning their desire or hockey sense.

Edmonton looking for D for Eberle.

Coburn + L. Schenn + Simmonds + B. Scheen for Eberle and they're 2014 and 2015 1st round pick.

- Chris48

With the above proposal, you have to be realistic and wait a couple years to be a real contender (Pitt-Chi-Bos-LA). It's a long difficult process specially in a city like philly with a win now philosophy.

Think about it, most probably 2 early 1st rounders in 2014 and 2 early first rounders in 2015 upping your chances on the next dominating force in the NHL (McDavid).

You give time to Haag, Morin, Cousins, Laughton, Couturier, Gus to develop and get more experience and hopefully you have a major contender in 3-4 years.

Everyone on here says blow it up. It's been a year and a half of this nonsense.
This type of rebuilt is an option. A gamble for sure, but it is a option and you have to be ready to finish low in the standings to take advantage and benefit in the future rather than now.

Hopefully if a trade like that would happen, Edmonton would follow with a poor record to up that value on the 1st rounders in 2014 and 2015.

Just an idea on rebuilding with patience and using a strategy people !!!

Looks like a goalie and a depth-oriented center; the speculation's that EDM cleared the cap room from Smid to do something else...like maybe bring in...wait a minute? Is that? Is that music I hear? Whose music is that?

Oh, my God! It's...it can't be him! Not him! It's....

You still need defense and Coburn is leading the D in ice time.

And as I said, Yakupov has potential, just like Couts, Laughton, B Schenn, L Schenn, and Voracek. He has 1 goal and 3 points so far this season. Not exactly lighting it up so that I would want to trade our most dependable defenseman for him. Think about it, who does that leave on D for this season and next, especially if L Schenn is out of favor?

But if Smid or another defenseman is coming back to us, that changes the scenario.

- wolfhounds

Comparing the flyers players to a first overall pick is not even close. At the very worst yakupov will still be better the schenn and counts T their best.

That's what I hear too. But you have to think that if a team that needs D just traded a D its because there is another shoe to drop. I'm thinking they sign bryz then trade yakupov and hemsky and pick to us for couturier coburn and simmonds.

They get a mobile defenseman in coburn that paired with a good puck mover like Shultz would be good. They get a key defensive center and they get a power forward they have coveted.

If Ilya Bryzgalov walks in off the street and shuts the Flyers out tomorrow, that would make the 7-0 railing we took last week feel like a freaking back massage from three Thai hookers
