No wishful thinking would be for them to get a qualified GM that has no ties with the organization and can bring in some new ideas and change the philosophy
- nonpoint22

Yep. I think, or least I hope Hextall's time in LA has gotten him away from the archaic thinking. As the game evolves, ideas have to as well.

Well this could be a good thing as trends happen to repeat themselves... maybe its time for the Flyers....

I have noticed in the past with the Flyers whenever there are strong trade rumors etc, usually trades never happen. But when things are quiet, BOOM....Trade!!

He's got 25 goals in 60 games as a Leaf right?
L. Schenn is a third pairing defenseman.

- PLindbergh31

Toronto's top defensive defenseman is Carl Gunnarson. Playing along side of Phaneuf, making less than Luke Schenn makes and is only 26.

I doubt many people know his name and even fewer would think he, a 7th round draft pick, could fetch a top 6 forward, let alone a top 3 forward.

The Flyers traded for a guy who's upside, at best, is to be a Carl Gunnarson but has that high draft pick pedigree on resume.

Very true, I think that is for the reasons mentioned on the blog about the value of your players when your desperate...rumors happen when a team is slumping or need to improve in an area, or if they are making a cup run and want to bolster there team....which in terms of the flyers isnt the case

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't it my job to make wild statements about JVR, and then you point out that he's not a 30 goal scorer until he actually scores 30 goals in a season?
- Atomic Wedgie

Apparently Flyers posters are in a slump as well.

A pall's been cast over Flyer Nation!
That rotten stench of desperation!
Trade the Schenns, strip the C!
We'd be far better off with Zarley Zalapski!

No goals, no hustle, no heart on their sleeve!
This soulless display will never reprieve!
Suggestions abound to get them on track!
Firesales, Byfuglien, call-ups, THE YAK!

But now the news is Jordan Eberle!
(I'm far too speechless to respond cleverly!)
Once again we knee-jerk react!
This team's never hired a sensible didact!

For once, my wish, is to let it ride,
Their struggle is more than a typical snide,
Hush the vehemence that's constantly shrilled,
And consider the wisdom: You never go full rebuild.

Is Luke Schenn really only 23?

Damn.

- KGBflyers10

Yes. And apparently he's supposed to be playing like a 28-year-old #1.

I accept. There is a better chance of Yakupov being a Stud then there is of Mason continuing to play at this calibur. While it would really hurt to watch him go, everyone will be happy when Yakupov is potting 50 goals at Magnitogorsk with Giroux getting 30 and Voracek 25.

And Miller will be our goaile for a while... or Hiller... Or Halak...

As recently as seven months ago he was a very solid second pairing guy playing 20 minutes+ a night.

Giroux is a third line grinder based solely on his play this season.
