I was looking up Eberle to get a feel for what kind of player he was, the first thing I came to was:

The Front Line: It's time to cut ties with Giroux, Eberle

Edit: Correction... this is good news I think.. If he's not playing well it only lowers his price. I think he can be a good fit here.

I guess I disagree because you need stay at home defensemen and those are our best 2 right now. Besides who could live life without Coburn's nose? Or Grossmann's looming shadow blocking shots!

No, you're fine -- first of all, I'm glad you didn't interpret what I said as an attack, because it wasn't. I'm honestly trying to find the right way to express it.

My concern with this roster as it currently stands is that of the young players we have who have notched 20-goal seasons -- particularly Simmonds, Read and Voracek -- it might be fair to ask if that is the anomaly in their careers and that they are not naturally gifted scorers at this level.

That does NOT mean that I am saying that they are not NHL players. They clearly are.

But what the Flyers are counting on them to be is consistent NHL point producers, with the key word in that being "consistent."

Consistent is the hardest thing in the world to be, especially in professional sports when other people are defending you. I think we have too many complementary scorers, not primary scorers, and we're asking them to do things they simply cannot do, whether it be due to youth, advancing age, or overrated ability.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe we're asking too much of Wayne Simmonds to score 25 goals in a predictable pattern that helps the team win 38-45 games in a single season. Maybe Wayne Simmonds is a guy who will score goals in bunches because he tries hard, but doesn't have the instincts and natural finishing ability to do it when other teams are defending him closely.

Does that make more sense, for how I'm trying to explain it?

- AllInForFlyers

Yes, that actually does. I definitely agree that it could be possible that a few of those younger players might not actually be able to consistently put up their prior goal totals. I would just find it really surprising if a few of those players who all had similar success one year, just lost it for good shortly after. But hey, stranger things have happened. But certainly, what we are seeing is probably a combination of what you mentioned as well as other factors.

To be clear, I'm all for making moves to try and make the team better. I am not the type to throw a fit when a trade is made because like many others have also mentioned, I want to see how it pans out before making a strong opinion.

And I'd also like to point out that I by no means think this team has the offensive skill to make a playoff run, if even make the playoffs at all. But the Flyers current struggling offense at the moment is more than alarming. I just think it has more to do with forward players and their inconsistencies, but like I said, I agree that could be a significant part of it

Why not?
Whats to say they don't win another 5 meaningless games at the end of this season and drop their position.
If you can package that for a young player like Eberle, Yakupov, insert someone else then Im all for it.

What you can't move draft picks for is someone over 30...no thanks..

A pall's been cast over Flyer Nation!
That rotten stench of desperation!
Trade the Schenns, strip the C!
We'd be far better off with Zarley Zalapski!

No goals, no hustle, no heart on their sleeve!
This soulless display will never reprieve!
Suggestions abound to get them on track!
Firesales, Byfuglien, call-ups, THE YAK!

But now the news is Jordan Eberle!
(I'm far too speechless to respond cleverly!)
Once again we knee-jerk react!
This team's never hired a sensible didact!

For once, my wish, is to let it ride,
Their struggle is more than a typical snide,
Hush the vehemence that's constantly shrilled,
And consider the wisdom: You never go full rebuild.

I would start by offering Simmonds and Grossmann for Eberle and see how close that gets you. Edmonton need a defensman and some toughness up front.

I like Simmonds, but Hartnell is untradeable and we don't really need two top 6 wingers who can't skate or pass or stickhandle.

Hockey central is talking about the Flyers and say they are going to have someone on the show to give us insight coming straight from the top... Snider or Homer going on the show?

The report is he has a minor injury as his play has slumped a little and he's sat out several practices... Eberle.

When we hang out with all our friends I stay with the guys. I talk hockey, gaming, sci-fi/fantasy books, horror films, comics, anime, etc.. I once got caught being polite while some of their girlfriends talked about their most recent purse party. My fiancee lost it. He said I looked miserable. He had no idea...

My wife and I have been playing Borderlands (1). I got her into the Fallout series (3, New Vegas) when we started dating and now she wants to try something else. I just walk nearby with my level 49 soldier and pick off anyone that gets too close (she's 21st level).
