Plenty of folks would be laying the blame squarely on him saying his inability to steal every game is casting a pall on the rest of them thus rendering them ineffective.
- Scoob

I agree with that. But that's a different issue.

Regardless, I'm glad we have Mason...he looks like the real deal, and as opposed to being a media distraction, he's just getting the job done.

I defended Bryz a lot but you can't discount that he was mostly just ok. his save percentage was .905 which for as much money he was making was not nearly good enough. he had that one great stretch but was otherwise mediocre to good. and what has been said about his locker room issues just compounded things. Mason has been light years better
- nastyflyergirl

He wasn't even just okay. His save percentage and goals against average ranked him 30+ in the league. That's not good enough for someone being paid like an elite goalie.

So are we still throwing away the rest of the season?

Just checking back in to see where we are.

It seems thats what the teams doing. Personally I think the majority are playing hard, but this losing game after game could start weighing on them even more to the point of shifting from pissed off to apathetic, like a lot of the fans are feeling at this point.

Eh, it's funny how a goalie can bring this team down, but can't pick it up. Hmmm...

I wasn't a fan of the signing but I'm on record as saying he's starting to turn me.

Dean Lombardi was the GM of the Kings and he spent 3 years in Philadelphia as a scout prior to going to LA.

So much was made of the Philadelphia connection when the Kings won.

Clearly, there are things with the Flyers organization that are not as bad as you are making it out to be.

When I checked in last night no one cared if we won another game as long as the young players were on the ice.

Of course that immediately meant I was endorsing Hall Gill and Andrea Mezaros for 15 - 20 minutes a night.

I wonder how little value the players have on this team now that they haven't showed up for the first 15 games. Do any of the "Kids" have value now. I sure don't want to sell low again on these guys.

The fact he doesn't have a job right now is telling. It annoys me that the guys on the Coyotes who spoke out were right. and the people on here who hated the move *cough...Brad....cough* were right.

A few people on the board feel Flyers "just don't have the talent" to score in this league and I just refuse to believe that.

Look at the roster the Flyers lost to last night. I don't care that the Devils have Jagr. Cam Janssen scored a goal last night. CAM JANSSEN. And by the way, if Peter Harrold can handle 18 min of ice time as a defenseman and finish a game with a 0 +/- then so can most of the defenseman on the Flyers roster, honestly.

Flyers aren't losing because they're missing a Jaromir Jagr or a Patrick Elias. They're losing because their best players (who should be scoring and have proved in the past that they are more than capable of doing so) just aren't doing it. Maybe it is the coaching. Maybe it's the wrong mix of players, as previously mentioned by others on the board.

But there is plenty of offensive talent on this team.

I had really hoped winning the back to back games including 5 against the Isles would give them a boost of confidence but it seems like blowing it to the Ducks has really sent them in a spiral. Even the Devils win...1-0. Offensively they just look lost

We're 15 games in. It's the first week of November. We're going to stop trying to win games?

Who are we going to develop that's not already seeing ice time? Luke Schenn and Eric Gustafsson? They're the answer? They're the difference? That's the fallow field we need to sow? How much of a long term difference are those two players going to make?

This team needs to find a system and will to win games NOW!!! You don't toss away 67 games.

They need to make moves to get even younger but that's not a development issue. Some of these players need to be moved. Some old and possibly some young but it's not about casting away the rest of this season to develop what we have.

- mayorofangrytown

we'd have to go like 50-(10-15) the rest of the season to make the playoffs

not happening sorry

i think bryz holds the flyers shut-out streak, no? if i'm wrong i apologize, but he played really well at times. truthfully i blame lavy for screwing him up. when you pay a guy $51 mil to be the guy you don't make him earn the job and then bench him for the biggest national spotlight game of the year. just stupid. i just picture lavy lying in bed (a la coach nickerson after losing to walnut heights) saying to his wife "do you think i should have played bryz in the winter classic?"
- hogweed

Correct me if im wrong, but the last time the flyers were in the playoffs(NJ in2012) the goal that actually eliminated them was when bryz tried to play the puck and shot it off of clarkson and went right into the net. Who cares about the shutout streak.

I hated the Bryzgalof trade and sign. I was never a fan. Ditto Schenn for JVR. I loved the Carter and Richards trades.

Right now I wish I could jump ahead two years.

I'm anxious to see what they do to right this mess and finish the year.

Yea thats why I dont really question the effort. The expressions on their faces after the games shows you they are giving all they got, again for the majority of guys, and its not working. To me thats worse then saying "Yea I screwed up on that play, my head wasn't in the game." But these guys are pressing with no results. Its hard to expect all that effort everytime when theres no positive reinforcement at the end.

Because he has wheels to get it into the offensive zone which is part of our problem?

Unlike the Mark Streit signing, which apparently we signed him to skate to the redline on the power play and then pass it off like a slingshot to Giroux skating up behind him.

Plus I just like Russians

I know, but I can't give up and just run out the kids on this team and watch them flounder and the team lose. What good does that do? This team blows right now and if you're sitting in the press box that should speak volumes.

I didn't think this team could make the playoffs before the season but I can't throw in the towel at the 15 game mark and go all sink or swim with the younger players for the rest of the year. And it's not like Gus and L. Schenn are all that young.
