Simmonds is big, tough, he had a good scrap against Wilson from the Caps, and he's got an offensive upside. That's what the oilers need!!!! - LeftCoaster

Maybe but not Ebs straight up . - hallwillcrushu
As mentioned, massage it. Sure Eberle is more skilled offensively, but Simmonds brings important things to the table that can't be measured on the points sheet. You can't just look at stats. How's that workin out for MacT? |

When have they been allowed to start doing that?

No doubt, Edmonton could use a guy like that big time. But at the expense of talent like Eberle? I say no. |

That would be a horrible trade for them unless the Flyers added. Eberle can make a line go, Simmonds needs someone to get him going. Just my 2 cents. - Nucker101
Maybe that's why they've got 8 points? Because Eberle has everyone going? |

They adopted the rule last year. They can even pass forward. |

Agreed, but you need a mix of different type of players to make it work. Oilers don't have that. |

Just saying, they would be better off giving up other assets to give Eberle a guy like that to play on the opposite wing, instead of moving Eberle himself. |

Never disagreed with you, but value-wise Eberle is worth more than Simmonds. As such, for a deal like that to work, Philly would need to add. However, because the only other player of real interest to the Oilers would be Coburn (one of their top Dmen), the Oilers would also need to provide a reasonable replacement (hence Smid). |

(frank) me silly, someone tell them already. That's gotta be why they have lost so much this year. |

Most teams have a high end offensive guy. Not a lot of teams have a guy who hits, fights, and scores at the rate that Simmonds does.
Look, Eberle is my favorite Oiler. But if the Flyers ask Eberle for Simmonds you think long and hard about it. |

At what point does the league steepen the penalty on knee-on-knee hits (regardless of intent)? That's now 3 in recent memory on 3 of the Oilers' best players (Hall, Nuge, and Petry) and I'm sure there have been a good number of others throughout the league. If they're really intent of improving safety, it's about time they made punishments for knee-on-knee hits as harsh as for headshots. |

I'm sure most Flyers fans would be very happy with Simmonds + Coburn for Eberle + depth D-Man , I could be wrong though. |

You certainly think about it, but the value isn't right. Overall, Eberle is an upgrade on Simmonds, wouldn't you say? |

Yes and no. There's two, or more, sides to that. Eberle is an upgrade offensively, Simmonds is an upgrade physically while still having offensive abilities. |

I guess it's your opinion, but if you were to go around the league, I'm certain you'd be hard-pressed to find many people who'd take Simmonds over Eberle. Also keep in mind that Philly is looking for high-end skill and offense just as much as Edmonton is looking for physicality and toughness. So we're back to straight up value. |
