Albatross and albatrosses are both acceptable plural forms, btw.
- FlyersGrace

Which one are you?

My dad has that set still. Owning a liquor store allowed him to collect it pretty quickly.

Despite the fact that I do like Brayden Schenn and think he will eventually develop into a great player, I would still be perfectly fine with trading him for a top pairing D-man. There is already a log jam at center and with the unknown potential of Laughton and Cousins waiting in the wings, Flyers look set at center for now. I agree with what someone said earlier in that there is a concern that if Schenn gets to 23 or 24 and hasn't improved much, his trade value could be greatly reduced.

"live with" ???

We'll get to read such treats as "this team really sucks" and "I'm gonna watch a real team like the Sharks" for those "few years."

I think the reason the older crowd (if they haven't given up after the 1994-95, 2004-05, or 2012-13 lockouts) can withstand this is because they saw what 1967-1972 looked like.
- Flyskippy

Trust me, it wasnt as bad. Those early teams worked hard they just didnt have the talent. And even when they missed the playoffs they werent eliminated til the last game of the season. In fact the final game of 89-90 against Detroit was the 1st "meaningless" game in club history.

Yeah, I get that. Effort without much talent was there in the early days and in the early 90's. Now we have talent and poor effort.

I started watching in 84 when I was was 8. I remember 89-93, but that era of hockey was unreal and only fueled my love of hockey. The only reason I know the game as well as I do is because of Gene Hart. He taught the game, nobody ever like him. Ill argue the top or second to top reason a large segment of the fanbase doesnt know it ass from a hole in the ground is our broadcast team followed by (more recently) our ouystanding media coverage.

I wish I shared this attitude right now. Tell you what, if they win and score at least three goals, you get a big bag of "I told you so's" to hand out, on me.

I'd settle for a win and a beer

Your quote in the location made me think of a role Pronger can play for the team the remainder of his contract. Just have him in the locker room to smack players upside the head once they start acting like sad sacks and feeling sorry for themselves.

That was my exact point last night talking to another hockey dad at my son's practice last night. The fanbase is lacking hockey sense by comparison because no one does what Gene Hart did. And Peter Puck is MIA.

Before they cut the character length I used to have the whole quote. He said it to Jagr cuz Jagr whined to the refs all the time.
One of my favorites of his quotes.
I miss that man.
And I wish he could be more involved. But until he begins to feel better and his contract is completely up I doubt we see that much of him.

I'm a little older than you, but most of this applies to me as well.

My "first" Flyers team was the "Streak" team in 1980.
