Just to prove my point to you

All I was trying to say Rask is a great goalie, but to say he's head and shoulders above ours is a stretch.

Goalies numbers are based almost entirely off the system, and strength of the defense.

Look at every goalie Detroit had in the last 15 years, and look what happened to the goalie after moving to another team.
How about Emery in chicago last year compared to this year, or current Detroit goalie Howard pre contract to current day?

Rask is a recipient of the defensive system of his team. His numbers would be inflated in Toronto.

- IRON.MAIDEN

well, I think we've seen what Rask can do facing 30 plus shots a night....thats 34.6 shots a game in the playoffs and look at that sparkling GAA and Spct.

Considering the bullpoop "quality of shot" defense...wouldn't that suggest Rask would thrive with such amazing anti-quality super defense?
- AdamFrench

You're speculating just as much as AA. And I highly doubt Rask would preform better in Toronto. To say otherwise is silly. You wouldnt make an actual bet with your paycheque on that logic, so why use that logic at all?
I'm sure Reimer and Bernier would preform better in a tigher defensive system, and less shots, in Boston.

My own beloved wife

I do not know how to start this letter. The circumstances are different from any under which I ever wrote before. I am not to post it but will leave it in my pocket, if anything happens to me someone will perhaps post it. We are going over the top this afternoon and only Howard in Heaven knows who will come out of it alive.

I am in his hands and whatever happens I will look to him in this world and the world to come. If I am called my regret is that I leave you and my peanuts. I go to him with your dear face the last vision on earth I shall see and your name upon my lips, you the best of women. You will look after by Darling Peanuts for me and tell them how their laddy died.

Oh! How I love you all and as I sit here waiting I wonder what you are doing at home. I must not do that. It is hard enough sitting waiting. We may move at any minute. When this reaches you for me there will be no more war, only eternal peace and waiting for you.

It is a legacy of struggle for you but Howard will look after you and we shall meet again when there will be no more parting. I am to write no more sweetheart… Kiss the Peanut for me once more. I dare not think of them my Darlings.

Goodbye, you best of men and best of bros, my beloved sweetheart. May Howard in his mercy look over you and bless you all… May he in that same mercy preserve me today. Eternal love from

Yours for evermore

Alright, I'll lay my sword down so I don't sound like a UG on this.

All of you are really refusing to look at it from a different POV.

Late to the party but Couturier for Gardiner... yes please. Meets a need for both teams: struggling PMD with a high ceiling for Flyers, struggling center with a high ceiling for the Leafs.

I agree with you totally dude that our goalies are right up there, I just think Tukka has more to do with the Bruins success then a defensive system. I actually think the Bruins would be quite ordinary without him.

4/5 nhl seasons rask has had a gaa at or under 2.05. Bernier and reims need time before they can be in that discussion.
Its funny though because we justify the leafs poopty d by saying that they make the opposition taoe multiple parimeter shots. So the 40 s.o.g arnt as bad as they seem

Oh he looked great against the Bruins, personally i think he's trying too hard to now be the d-man Randy wants him to be. Long run though, I think it'll be better for him, and there will be this feel good story like in a year that says "Randy made me a better player, etc. etc."

Thomas did just as well as Rask. In fact, he probably did better.

I know, looking back at the quote, what I said misrepresented what I was trying to get across. Rask is a great goalie, all I meant is his numbers get bumped because of the system he is in, not that his numbers are great only because of the system

Thomas great goalie
Worthless human being.

I'd take a line of Kaleta, Cooke, and Avery over that classless piece of poop.

Kidding, I'd never take Kaleta.

I have a confession that i really don''t want to confess..

I only saw the first 3 games of the series last year

I was treeplanting in Prince George. On the day of game 7 i was driving into town thinking theres no way the Leafs were still in it. As soon as i got cell service and saw that there was a game on and it was 4-4 i was (frank)ing freaking! The rest of my crew were scared for their lives as i was speeding towards the nearest bar. When the Broons scored i knew it because all of the sudden in the rear view saw the look of disappointment/fear in a fellow planters eyes. I had to pull over for a minute.

I think with Rielly, Phaneuf, and Franson rounding out our offensive-minded defensemen makes Gardiner expendable. Really, I see Rielly as more heady/cerebral version of Gardiner: has the wheels, but makes the smarter plays. Plus we have Granberg (Gunnarsson with a mean streak), Percy, and to a lesser extent Blacker still in the fold.

I have a worse confession. I after game 3, I stopped watching as well, yet I was home every night, and had Cable, internet and cell service. Although I watched game 7, I never felt bad about bailing on the Leafs, because I am sick of being the battered boyfriend to these female doges.

The problem with Gardiner is that he's never going to be effective unless he's giving coaches heart attacks. It will take a real visionary to let him do his thing.

Note that my use of "visionary" doesn't necessarily mean a successful coach, just one willing to do things differently.

Allowing Gardiner to play his own unique style could also be an unmitigated disaster. In the game 7 meltdown, the pairing on the ice for 3 of the 5 against was Franson and Gardiner. That's the game of roulette you play with him.
