That Seguin trade is looking like a boneheaded move. - RogerRoeper

Rask is a better goalie. This is dumb. Nuff said.
Rask has a better GAA and the same save% - Arctic_AARDVARK

The Bruins wouldn't have probably traded him to a playoff rival. Would you have traded JVR for him, considering what the Bruins got from Dallas in exchange?

I'm quite comfortable imagining JVR/Kadri/Kessel personally. It's imagining the rest of the lineup with these damn injuries that i have the issue with. |

So.. The save% nullifies that. The GAA shows that he allows less goals which is his job. I'm really happy with the duo we have, but Rask is still better. |

I'm hopeful that Bernier can get to a point where he matches Tukka, and I still like Reimer too, but right now, in this league, there's no other goalie I'd take over Rask. It pains me to say it knowing he was once ours. I wish it wasn't the case too. |

I agree. But I'm hoping one of Bernier or Reimer can prove me wrong. |

I think the goaltending matchup is close enough. For the handful of percentage points, it would probably not be the deciding factor in a series rematch. Leafs vs Bruins with no injuries and it's a toss up.

Highly debatable
Save percentage and GAA are great stats, but would he continue to hold those numbers on 4o shots a game?
I agree Rask is a great goaltender, but I say in what order those 3 get ranked isn't so easy. This discussion would be best served in a few years from now.
Would I take Rask over our 2? Yes. But again, if he got peppered on this team every single night, I doubt he'd carry those stats. |

I realize this could seem a bit optimistic, but if Philly is looking to blow things up, why not make a huge push for Giroux?
We would have to overpay, but he's a top 5 guy in the league stuck on a team going nowhere.
It would take a ridiculous package as I said, but it would be worth it IMO.
Something like: Gardiner Reimer Kadri 2014 1st for Giroux Mason and a 3rdI wouldn't be surprised if Philly took that deal, although I'd expect it to be closer to the deadline. - leafan89

Yes Rask is a constant. Reimer & Bernier are hot & cold. Yes Rask is a beauty. Hate to say it, but I admire the heck out of that Fin. He would have been the best drafted Leaf goalie since Palmateer. Sorry folks, we gave away a real great one in Rask. |

Reimer and Bernier have both let in a few softies. Rask would have made those saves. I haven't seen enough of Tukka this year but the games i have seen he's been great. Maybe he's let in a few softies too. But going by the shot logic every team the Leafs beat the goalies must have suffered in the save% department |

I really don't understand your reply.
All I asked would Rask sustain those numbers with 40 plus shots a night?
We already know Reimer and Bernier have.
Has Rask ever faced 40? Not including a double or triple OT game? |

Goalies numbers are based almost entirely off the system, and strength of the defense.
Look at every goalie Detroit had in the last 15 years, and look what happened to the goalie after moving to another team.
How about Emery in chicago last year compared to this year, or current Detroit goalie Howard pre contract to current day?
Rask is a recipient of the defensive system of his team. His numbers would be inflated in Toronto. |

All I was trying to say Rask is a great goalie, but to say he's head and shoulders above ours is a stretch. |

Considering the bullpoop "quality of shot" defense...wouldn't that suggest Rask would thrive with such amazing anti-quality super defense? |
