The Rangers won't deal Kreider or McDonagh so the Yakupov thing probably won't happen. I'd go for something like DZ/prospect/3rd for Hemsky/Petry/Marincin. Hemsky at least gets them through the year with some kind of scorer and Petry seems like a decent all around 5th/6th dman who's an RFA. |

Yeah, the only way that makes sense is if Gillis had a deal in place to trade Edler for a top 6 forward. - Nucker101
And that scares the heck out of me. |

you would be the worst gm.
it's not opinion or how much you dislike someone. you maximize your assets at all times.
yakupov is a first overall, that led rooks in goals and points and has the potential to be a pereniall 30+ goal scorer. that also has a very real chance of blossoming into that in a different system asap.
this equals value.
u don't take those assets u mentioned that don't help us now for a bluechip asset.
you just dont - hugefemale dog77
Watch the games son, he is not a defensively sound player and it isn`t a function of experience, it seems to be conscious mental decisions to not skate, to not put forth the effort. I really like Yakupov actually, he is an electrifying player at times.
I also can recognize value when I see it though, and I manage risk all day long. At this particular moment in time the downside risk of Yakupov is MUCH higher than the upside.
When making decisions (in life, finance, and everywhere else) unsuccessful people always look at the two POSITIVE outcomes of that decision. Successful people look at the two NEGATIVE outcomes...and choose the least negative.
I think I would make a pretty good GM actually, but I`m not willing to drop so many payscales. |

I doubt he oil would deal Petry, he's been the only bright side on the blue line. He's better than a 5/6. I think he's more of a 3/4

Petry and MDZ are pretty much the same player except Petry is bigger. We would not be moving Petry for MDZ. |

Petry seems a little underrated, and the Rangers desperately need someone with a shot from the blueline. As for AV I like him alot, he's not a sideshow, but not a pushover either. A breath of fresh air for sure. |

Yeah Petry is underrated. Plus I agree with iggysbff, similar guys to MDZ. Kinda of a lateral move for both.
The AV Torts thing has facinated me how they just switched like that. NY as most of know is tough sports town and VAN is nuts about the game too. It's seems like polar opposites of where they both where. |

did you just drop how much money you make on hockeybuzz?
next you'll be telling the strangers on hockeybuzz how many hot girls you bang.
painfully transparent. you're either full of it, or a super douche. either way, i don't envy it.
and ur entitled to your opinion, just like I have mine.
i read through the oilers threads all the time and i have my opinions on who understands the game and who doesn't.
yaks wont go for peanuts because gm's don't think like the average fan. they understand player value much better than most of you. |

petry wont be moved.
petry is a 2nd pairing at least without a doubt.
he's not even doing a terrible job as our #1 on a terrible team with no help.
id feel quite comf with him as our #2 guy long term.
he's a vastly underrated two way guy and still getting better.
still makes the bonehead play from time to time, but theyre getting fewer and further between |

"Hearing" Del Zotto, Miller + 1st for Yakupov... - Iamnumber27
This would be a horrible trade for Edmonton... MDZ is not very good (sorry he isn't).. and J.T. Miller is not as highly thought of as Larry Brooks and Rangers fans think (again.. sorry he isn't) ...
You want Yak? .. it would probably cost u a 1st.. and a MacD or Girardi and a Kreider or Hagelin type package... still want a guy that may get peeved and pull a Kovy on you if AV decides to bench him? |

In all honesty I would keep him too if I were the Oil, they need a few guys under 25 to build around who won't cost alot. They should draft a top dman finally in next years draft I would think no? What do they consider Musil and Maricin? |

even if we wanted to get rid of yaks for lower value, why the eff do we want del zotto? he's an offensive minded 3rd pairing guy.
he helps us in no way. people just don't get it.
however , i think its somewhere in between the two deals you spoke of. take out that first u mentioned and probably mcd, and we could get a deal done.
staal and kreider
yaks, nultz (salary dump) and a middling prospect/middle pick (marincin/2nd rounder)
done |

Did you miss the draft this year? Nurse is looking like a beast. Almost made the club this year.
Also Klefbom is coming along nicely. Not too offensive but is looking like a really good shut down type. |

they hope they did last year in darnell nurse. (7th overall)
he really was a revelation in camp. its clear the oil don't want to rush prospects anymore, so they sent him back.
but don't be surprised at all if he makes the team next year. needs to fill out, but very tall, mean, smooth skater. i fell in love.
klefbom has tons of upside, but hes a question mark. he'll prob need some time in north America.
musil is a plug. maybe a 3rd pairing someday. maybe
marincin looks solid. a project, but improving steadily. again ,super tall, smooth skater, two way guy. still makes mistakes and is average in his own end.
he wont be rushed, but i could see him being a solid 2nd pairing guy someday. |
