I see a lot of guys from our team getting bumped easily off the puck. Battle level is down. Good for the Rags.

Pretty much. The turnovers by slugs were bad, but the Pens only put in about 15 minutes of work. Not going to win many doing that.

1 out of 82. Can't say I care too much. That is part of the natural ebb and flow of an 82 game season.

Not disagreeing with that. Not so much losing bit how it's done that occasionally bothers me most.

If it becomes a pattern in March I'll be more critical.

The Penguins have two 4th lines and on some nights it is going to catch up with them.

When Neal and Bennett come back it will make a world of difference. Brandon Sutter will become a quality 3rd line center instead of a babysitter.

I'm turning this one off now...same old playoff story. Sid get's frustrated getting stoned on those early scoring chances, get's taken off his game and the entire team falls to complete crap. He's so worried about chirping Kreider that he can't even beat Boyle on a damn faceoff.

And MAF gets no grief from me for this game. 4 goals against in 2 periods is never good, but neither are horrid turnovers at the blueline, blown coverages in front of our net, outnumbered chances, Letang deciding to play wing and not much any goalie will do about double deflections. I can only blame him for 1 of the 4, and even that wasn't an eye roller. I think he's earned a bye based on his season so far.

It would be nice to see some fire on the third. We are getting our chances on the PP but looks like we are not trying our best.

Certainly looking forward to that. One would do the trick right now which is most likely what we will get. Probably D'Agostini back out there again.

anyone else noticing how fleury has been trying to save pucks on his glove side?

He use to keep his glove and use his elbow as a hinge and move his glove up and down while moving his arm

Latel he has been keeping his glove lower and then flings his elbow up.. he does mostly when in the butterfly...and i understand when you go butterfly you put the glove on ur pads to create a bigger are for the puck but his movements are awkward

also, we on the trading for a winger for geno yet

Jesus guys, this is a an 11-4 team, if you think they are going to play and win the rest of the way you are crazy.

The team is getting outworked in a game, it is going to happen again this year. You can see in games like this that missing Neal and Bennett hurt. The depth of this team is killing it.

This has been MAF's worst outing this year, and really 1 was tipped twice, one came off the toe of a stick, and the 3rd was through the legs of his teammate. The 2nd goal was a badly missed angle, that would be the only one I would hang on MAF as a traditional MAF bad goal.

I find it amazing the panic and distress from this room at times in relation to one bad game.

If you can win 3 out of 5 all the way through the year including playoffs, you win the whole thing.

We can't buy a PP goal. Any goal to be honest. Lundqvist is playing very well lately.

I agree. Some posters seem to live and die through the Penguins game to game performance.

I would have liked them to beat the Rangers, but tonight isn't their night. The only thing that bothers me is that I started Fleury tonight in a league and now now my GAA and S% are shot.

Uninspired work after the first 17 minutes. Worst effort of the year IMO.

That last goal you can chalk up to Matta , the whole team is lost except for Megna I think , he has looked consistent.

No Duper on the bench. Not something we need to take away with a loss.

Hopefully Duper is alright. Also, hopefully we see a better effort on Saturday. Blues play basically the same game the Rangers do...but more consistently.

I know that Shero took Maatta with the pick but I still wish the Penguins had drafted Henrik Samuelsson with that pick. He is shredding the WHL right now and for a team that is lacking bottom six forward depth Samuelsson would fit in nicely as either a third line W/C who could rotate into the top 6.

The Pens love good skaters. They all played poorly and the Rangers looked like world beaters.

They had everybody last year in the Boston series and the games...1 and parts of 2 at least...looked eerily similar.

Clearly Boston was playing great hockey back then but it should be noted that a lot of the Penguins losses have a very familiar look to them.

There's a point in a game where you watch 10 minutes of play and you see a team dominate but they have not scored. The common reaction to this is to keep doing the same things until there is a breakthrough.

I can't speak for what the Penguins did in terms of changing things up before the Rangers scored but it didn't look like much. And then what seems to happen is the Penguins become 'eager' to score...commit a few mistakes and the puck ends up in their net.

So...in my estimation...the players and coaches need to become better at sticking with their system and when the pucks don't go in...bear down and play even more determined...or switch it up...look at what the other team is giving them instead of trying so hard to do it THEIR WAY.

If you were a wrestler (a real greco roman one) ...noted for a certain style and you were good at it...other wrestlers would learn about this and devise ways to combat it...even if it meant just keeping you at bay for a while. If you were so determined to follow thru with your specific style...you might win the match if you wore your opponent down or your opponent might get lucky and steal a few points and a win from you because you stayed with that one style and he kept you from following through long enough that he could take advantage of your stubbornness. Great wrestlers take what the opponent gives them..and have the skills and knowledge to win by taking advantage of it.

Great coaches...I hate to say it...Bill Belichick...are great because they take advantage of what you give them.

Dan Bylsma has some of the smartest (I think) and most talented players in the world on his team. Start now with the idea that these guys should be prepared to win ANY way by taking advantage of what the opposition is giving them.

Sure...start with your system...and if you get results early...stick with it. But I think there are definitely times...like the regular season...to change it up and see what that does. Do it before you need to sometimes.

I don't know how to describe it besides what I just said...but it's the Penguins Achilles heal and has been for the better parts of the last 3-4 seasons.

This team should be able to play a different style and win.
