DD is in year 1 of a 4-year deal. you can't hide him in the lineup for 3 years.

I dunno, he's pretty tiny.

at some point you need to break your young dmen into the lineup.
- DoubleDown

At some point you also need to give them mentors.

See the edm oilers as an example of having great potential not properly mentored.

Just to clarify - the Flyers fans in the seats were still idiots, right?

I believe that having 79 shots fired towards your net is the very reason you would state that you didn't compete on any given night. Stating the opposite is ridiculous. The finger pointing on PK has to stop. There are just as many other incapable parts to the equation that is the Montreal Canadiens. Tired of watching a team that has has very little to offer beyond systems-based defensive zone coverages and very little offensive aptitude. Taking the puck wide through the offensive zone every time you cross the blue line in order HOPE that you can maintain possession behind the other team's net and generate quality scoring chances ... slim to none. The coaching staff obviously know that the team has little to offer other than following systems-based attack plans. Playing for the tie? For what? To go to overtime to play a four man box ?!?!?! &%^* that jazz ! You've already obtained a point. Go out there and create the other point. Live and die by the sword you cowards. They can't take the point you earned away from you! A four man box in overtime ??? For what ? To get to shootout and fail to bury any opportunity ? Sad state of affairs.

Assets you can't let walk away for nothing. Even if it's a low round pick, Bergevin needs to get some value for them.
- Dgrdnr

you make it seem like they're gonna be a lottery team. they're gonna be in the mix for a playoff spot. their last 4 losses have come to Minny, SJ, Colorado and St. Louis. losing to them doesn't mean you suck. just means you're not a great team. but eventually we're gonna start playing the mediocre teams in our conference and collecting some points.

From a value based standpoint, I agree.

But there is no one close to their talent level ready to take over their role.

In a couple of years, Subban-Eller-Gallagher-Galchenyuk-Bournival will not have such affordable salaries.

- Dgrdnr

Agreed. And trading them now means what, playing players that aren't ready in those roles and perhaps mentally destroying what little prospects are in the system... People need to be moved, but Bergevin has to keep the long term plan in mind when doing it.

Gionta, Diaz and Leblanc for picks at the deadline. Yes.
Markov... not so sure.

don't tell me that a team that blocked nearly 40 shots didn't compete. that's ridiculous. they lost to a superior team that has better players and coaching.

This team needs vets to help the young guys grow their game.

Markov and Plekanec are good veterans, they still perform at a high level and have been habs all their careers. I'd like to believe this still means something.

agree with this. which is why you'd like to see at least one of Tinordi or Beaulieu in the top 6 right now.
