Think their marketing department watches games? I got the pre-sale santa sacks info in my inbox today.

Same. I literally, albeit sarcastically, laughed out loud.

I read Bill's blog daily. Whether or not I participate in the threads is up in the air.

You haven't sold Spaghetti to the Elmer's people yet?

- tangent_man

Understood. Same deal here.

Not yet. Haven't found a replacement mower.

I was honestly shocked. I mean yeah you want to get it out about this time but even a day more to let fans get over that performance might have been a good idea.

Gill and Mez have ZERO chance of being part of this team moving forward. Schenn and Gus still could very well be here beyond this year. I want them playing, plain and simple
- nastyflyergirl

I agree but right now they're just trying to win games. The best thing for this team right now is to start winning so that the younger players get their feet under them again. Luke Schenn and Gustafsson aren't helping that right now.

Another month of this crap and I'm fully on board, at that time of the season there's no reason to try to squeeze points out of this roster. Just get the kids in their and let them play for better or worse and if it lands some of them in the AHL so be it.

I like Berube better than Lavi. He is willing to change, to try different things, and his focus is back to at least giving a poop about defense.
I like they made the change (not when they did it - but that they did it).
We always used to play better "on the road" over the last few seasons. They should go backpacking and find themselves... And if someone gets eaten by a bear then so be it.
The fact that Gill was one of our better defensemen last night is kinda scary. I love him, but really?
We all know they can do more!
Don't get me started on Mez, I have been one of his supporters but last night did not help his case. Almost like he knew he was getting scouted. Hell at this point you'd think people would want off this team!

END RANT

@ the bear comment. Might Bryz be hanging with the bear at this point?

Late to the party but I don't care.

1. NFW this team comes within sniffing distance of a playoff spot.

2. Mason is starting to turn me. I'm not completely sold, or confident he can keep it up, but I must admit I've been pleasantly surprised thus far and do hope it continues.

3. That said, the OT goal was very stoppable.

4. As for the rest of the team, last night they were just terrible. They just looked inept just about all night. Carolina looked no better. I'd say it was a case of playing down to the level of your opponent but I really can't decide which team that would apply to.

- Scoob

It was as bad and unexciting a brand of hockey you could see.

So the Flyers sales people called my friend yesterday asking if she wanted tickets. she said are they more expensive than the ones being sold on stub hub for 10.00? after a pause the sales person said "well no but once they start playing better they will be more money"

I seriously hope those poor sales people are not on commission

I think we're finding out it ain't the coach. Or that they didn't go far enough away from their usual MO by settling on their Assistant. They need a shakeup -- or to be blown up. Hard to do either in the cap era. I don't think the team will give Homer another chance to reboot a la 2007-08.
- Flyskippy

Bold = my opinion

Honestly, I think he needs to be relieved and they somehow have to dump some of the guys and really do a rebuild.

Agreed. He should retire to the left coast like he did in 1989 or so before he came back to supplant his son, Jay, and re-insert Clarkie as GM. That worked then. The opposite is best for the team now.

I would argue neither is Mez and quite frankly I want the young guys working through their issues. Gus and Schenn both looked very good last year playing minutes.

I was thinking of another scene where the rookie pitcher wears ladies underwear under his uniform. I think Giroux needs to do that. He needs something to distract him from how badly he's playing.

the goal was stoppable, and i was surprised it went in based on how well he played through the whole game. then i thought about it a little. i suspect he was still in his head about the game tying goal, which he almost stopped. he was dejected after it went in, staying down on his knees for a bit and had to gather himself. that's my theory anyway. goaltending is as much mental as anything else.

I still have a credit from when I dropped my season tickets so they call me every once in awhile to offer me some deal.

Last week one of the guys called and asked me if I was interested in Club Box seats at half off.

There is no "magic bullet" trade. But the do need to look long and hard at the players assembled.

Will Brayden Schenn & Couturier ever find offensive consistency? The defense is slow, bad with the puck and lacks hockey sense. Hell, the whole team seems to lack hockey sense.

Giroux's played badly, but he seems to be working, just not going into traffic as much as he has in the past.

Outside of the type of guys they need-a good puck moving defenseman with mobility, guys with hockey sense, maybe a sniper-whatever isn't traded away still has to step it up and play much, much better

- Jsaquella

I guess we expected too much from B Schenn this year, and he can be frustrating to watch, but he is near the top of the team in goals and points. In other words, if he's still a disappointment, most of the rest of the team is a complete and utter failure, including G.

There's just no way to criticize B Schenn and then compliment Giroux. That makes no sense. If anything, the bar is much higher for G and he's performed so much worse than just about anybody on this team, especially Schenn and Couts.

Anyone know if this team is on pace for the least amount of goals (per game avg) in history of the league? I'm sure they at least have to be on pace to break the Flyer record of fewest goals in a season. They are absolutely horrific to watch.

They certainly haven't looked good this year no matter how many minutes they play. The last thing I want to watch right now is more minutes of bad hockey although the Flyers sure seem to be intent on shoving it down my throat no matter who plays.

Exactly my thoughts, too. When he just laid there after the tying goal I was thinking "wtf? get up and shake it off, dummy, there's still a game to play!!!!"

Doesn't change, or excuse, that it was stoppable.
