Maybe they could reconfigure the PP so that Jake does the side wall passing stuff Giroux currently does and allow Giroux to find open lanes to take passes from and get shots? Just something to jump start him

Taking Jake off of the top PP unit and going w/ Kimmo + Streit at the points, and Vinny on the right-side would make more sense. Giroux would then have an additional one-time passing option to feed to, which would open up his shot a bit as well.

i understand everyone's warranted frustration with how Giroux is playing...but seriously, let's not blame the Flyers brass for paying him like a superstar player. right after that playoff series, EVERYONE in the league and in the press was putting him right up there with the best in the league. Hell, even before the lockout season NHL network had him number 3 of the "Best 50 Players in the League". It wasn't just Snider and Holmgren thinking that.

I don't think anyone claims to know what's wrong or how to fix what ails Claude and the rest of the Philly offense, but the fact that we've seen EVERY ONE OF THESE PLAYERS (Giroux, Hartnell, Read, Simmonds, Voracheck, Vinny) score at least 22 goals in a season. they CAN do it, it's just not happening right now.

I realize that's not helping anyone sleep easier...just sayin.

According to the twitter machine, they've shaken the lines up again, and it looks like Voracek and Giroux are gonna be reunited.

Mr. Holmgren. I also have 0 goals and I can certainly stand in front of our net and fail to pick up Jodan Staal as he ties the game so can I get 8 million of Mr. Snider's dollars for the next 8 seasons? I know you love to take care of us underachieving players that have won nothing in our young careers. Thanks, I really appreciate that!

I agree with this. When the PP is struggling, simplify it. Get 2 Dmen back there, work on puck poession on the PP, getting shots through and getting a few greasy goals. I'm not a huge fan of 4 fwds on the PP, unless that extra guy is elite. Usually dmen are more adept @ keep the puck in @ the line and moving laterally. Also they can at least defend if there is a break the other way.

Well, 2 says to approach. First.... Snider walks on the ice during practice, tells every player to take off thier jerseys and practice in just gear because they dont deserve to wear the FLyers crest until they earn it.

Or, and this the way I would go, I would ask a bunch of retired older player to come down for a day... Lindros, LeClair, Primeau, Jones, Desjardins, Therien, Pronger, Lappy, Berube, and take some shifts with these guys. Actually go back to playing some fun hockey. Then I would make a scrimmage of old Flyers vs new flyers, just for fun. Get Hexy out there, and Homer, Mullen.... Give these guys some pride. Let the older pros talk to these guys.... talk them through thier issues.... and then have a fun care free scrimmage.

On the bright side, at least we didn't have to sit through a shootout loss.

The Flyers return to action to the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday to take on the Devils.

Most of us are waiting for them to start their action. It's like they're skating through sludge or 5' of snow.

No matter who the GM is, the Flyers right now would be trading from a position of weakness. There are no home run deals anyone will make with them, unless the other team is scoring the home run. Unless there's a guy who's such a cancer they have to unload him at any cost (and there are no murmurings of such a thing at all), the Flyers really shouldn't be reactionary in their response to this. It is being reactionary in the past that got them into this mess.

Honestly I think the best thing this organization can do is to not panic and make stupid trades for older players. move expiring contracts, move veterans if you can. acquire as many assets as they can. Draft for skill speed and size. and just live with a 2-3 year plan to rebuild throught the draft and supplement with free agency

Chief doesn't seem to be the kitchen gourmet that Stevens was. I think he'd make a Gaines Burger cake instead.

With what I saw last night, what we've seen for the better part of two season...that really might be what they have to do.

When you can't score -- and they can't -- it isn't always effort or system or coaching, or the other team's goaltender.

Sometimes, it is talent. We need better skaters, passers, shooters, people who can think and create offense.

I hate to say it because I really want to believe in this roster. But they simply do not have enough skill in the lineup, enough pure talent, to score goals consistently in this league.
